This is too funny! The Chronicle and others were in such a rush to mock the President for being a simpleton, they mis-spelled a word in their own headline mocking him! The Chronicle discovered its error twenty minutes after putting the article and did a quick "stealth edit" to fix the problem. Google actually caught them out as well, because if you went to the Google News search and put in "mispronunce", you would have found this article (and no others), but it has apparently been fixed now. No harm, no foul, right?

Not quite, since the geniuses at the Chronicle are so quick to pounce on others for simple mistakes that can happen to the best of us, I will pounce on them. The editors of the Chronicle are morons, and unfit to fill those positions. Furthermore, I believe they were selected, not elected!

I leave it to you to figure who the greater fool is...

I call it Ne-vah-duh too. I didn't know there was an alternate pronunciation.

Boy, if that's all they've got to attack the President on, then we are really kicking their ass.

This comes from a paper who thinks JFK is a God, and during the greatest crisis refered to Cuba as Cuber?

Recently there's been a "Beavis & Butthead" quality to the SF Chronicle's editorial style.

State Senate Minority Leader Dina Titus, D-Las Vegas, said the mispronunciation shows Bush, who won the state in the 2000 election, doesn't care much about the state.

Talk about a stretch.

The Chronicle is again guilty of sheer stupidity. How many ways have you heard the city "Los Angeles" pronounced?

This has to be a joke, not only does he misspell "mispronounce" but he credits a word with two syllables as having a middle syllable ("gamble" 2 syllables no middle). On top of that he's whining that Bush didn't give the state it's "native twang" pronunciation, how many people outside OregUN know it's not OregAHN? What a doof.

Okay, so it's . . . Ne - vamble - da ?????

Do these clowns even know what rhyming means? ? ? ? And they have the audacity to try (pathetically) to bust on W? ? ? ?

My dictionary has both pronounciations. Here's what a native has to say: http://www.geocities.com/jiboegle/column12Sep00.html
