Dixie Chick Natalie Maines' infamous quote - "Just so you know, we're ashamed the president of the United States is from Texas" - was named the year's Best Quote at "VH1's Big In 2003 Awards." When accepting her award from Bill Maher, Natalie said, "There's an old Texas expression. If you don't have anything nice to say, go to London and say it in front of 2,000 people." Other stars at the event included country superstar Shania Twain and country fan Kid Rock.

Thanks, Amigo!
You reminded me I have to send an e-mail to my local country music station asking them why on earth they ended their Dixie Chicks boycott. WPOC stopped playing their stuff for about a month, but then started again. What can you expect in the People's Democratic State of Maryland.

Their overseas tour played to audiences of 2000?
I don't think it's their political views that lead to a lack of underwriters.

I haven't heard the Dixie Chunks on our local radio station for a verrrrrrrrry loooooooooooong time. In fact, I won one of their CD's in a contest they were having. Did you know that CD's can really fly with the proper wrist technique?
To: stainlessbanner
Natalie Maines only won Best Quote because they new Osama Bin Laden wouldn't be able to appear to pick up his award for "We will crush the infidels!".

The Dixie Chicks? I've heard their song (or a second or so before I turned the station) only ONCE since they uttered this tripe. I wish they'd change their name to the Frog Chix and move to France.

They're the country music darlings of the country music hating crowd.
That's gonna make them feel important, but it's not going to sell a lot of records.
They'll be playing 1,500-ticket venues in NYC and San Fran in two years.

You have to feel sorry for this crowd - they epitomize everything that's wrong with this culture today - crude, stupid and classless.
