Protest Bush in Pittsburgh, PA -
Tuesday, December 2, 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM.
Westin Convention Center Hotel, Downtown.
Whatever your reason - the economy, the war, his lies, his heading of organized crime and terror networks - come to the protest rally and voice your opposition. He says he loves "free speech" (when in zones and battered by police in Florida), so here's our chance.
Bring signs, dress up like a pretzel or as the peasants he hopes to reduce us to, or whatever your heart tells you.

Leftists' plans for Tuesday, December 2.
I reformatted to make above a little easier to read.
I'm in the DC area, but hope that some Pennsylvania FReepers peaceably counter-protest the protestors and support President Bush.
I hope that some Pennsylvania FReeper will kindly post this on the PA state board.
There is a phone number for more details on the notice itself. I hope that some PA FReeper will click on the source URL above, call the number and get details to post here and help plan the FReep.

What if.... a large number of semi rigs, tractors and other vehicles simply blocked the street? What if said barricade was encircled by real Americans, whose only goal was simply to stand at attention, and stand their ground no matter what? What if?

The leftists are apparently NOT planning illegal activity.
Therefore, the best response is to simply peaceably protest them and with minimal disruption of uninvolved people.

Bring signs, dress up like a pretzel or as the peasants he hopes to reduce us to, or whatever your heart tells you.Like so many scenes I've observed, this isn't a "protest", as much as it is a "happening".
Much like what happened in Seattle - a whole bunch of groups, unconnected with the core purpose of the protest, assembled to "make some noise", as the 60's-era phrase went. It was a street party. As this will be.

I should be downtown... will get some of my support posters to counter the boneheads. Last time the paper wrote 1,000 show to protest Bush. I counted 40 at the most, and only 20 were the hardcore Bush haters. The other 20 were the Gay/Lesbian, Anarchist's, social outcasts, smelly hippies and someone holding a sign about "No Justice/No Peace for Johhny Gammage"... *sigh*...

martin, could you ping the usual Burgh suspects? The loony leftists at the
Thomas Merton center have posted the following:
Title: Bush in town, let's give him a Pittsburgh Greeting!
Event Date: 12/2/2003 11:00 AM
Description: Bush is in town for a fundraising lunch at the Westin Convention Center, 1000 Penn Ave. Exact details of protest gathering being worked out, but surely, we will be there to greet the emperor!
Location: corner of Tenth and Penn?

Please, please, pleeeease let them try covering their faces. That's a statewide no-no here in PA. The law's there to fight the KKK. Cover your faces and...do not pass go, do not collect $200, go directly to jail.
I triple-dog-dare them >:)

I'll be surprised if more than a couple hundred leftists show up. Their anti-war protests in the spring were pretty lame. The morons at Indymedia report:
Bush to hold Pittsburgh fund raiser Dec. 2
by Homeland Security Friday November 14, 2003 at 03:23 PM
Billionaire wartime-deserter, religious terrorist, wannabee cowboy from CT, is coming to Pittsburgh to panhandle.
Friday, November 14, 2003
WASHINGTON -- President Bush will bank on Keystone State support for his re-election at a Pittsburgh fund-raiser the first week of December, the White House announced today.
Bush's Pittsburgh appearance on Dec. 2. will mark his 23rd visit to Pennsylvania -- more than to any other state -- since taking office. With 21 electoral votes, Pennsylvania is tied with Illinois for the nation's fifth-largest political prize.
The Steel City lunch is one of five the president will headline between Dec. 1 and 11 for the Bush-Cheney '04 campaign. He is also raising campaign funs in Detroit, Newark, N.J., Baltimore and McLean, Va., a Washington suburb.

Windcatcher,
They can't cover their faces? Last protest, a 14 year old anarchist was carrying the US Flag upside down with anarchy symbols spray painted on it. Of course he had a bandanna over his face.... Is this illegal? I always figure if you can't show your face, you must be doing something wrong, or embarrassed about something.....
Anyone planning on going? I can make extra posters...
http://www.icubed.com/~horneman/pictures_and_posters.htm Let me know which ones you like and I'll make 'em....

The Thomas Merton Center, Pittsburgh's bastion of looney leftists. They sent a busload of people to protest in Miami, acc. to the Trib. Now they're baaaack to harass Bush.

Do you have this guy's (Michael Rechtenwald) e-mail?
I think we should post it on this board and invite FReepers to respond to his lies.
