And he is fighting them. He just chose not to give the media more ammunition to use against him in the fight. Turning this into a new "crusade" would be idiotic. Unless, you think that we should paint crosses on our tanks... and go forth to battle purely in Jesus' name.
Interestingly, that's exactly what the apostles thought Jesus was going to do.
