McCain, Feingold Mute as Soros-Ickes Wreck Campaign Finance Reform
NewsMax ^ | 11/18/03 | Limbacher

It's been a week since insider trading convict and billionaire Democrat donor George Soros donated $15 million dollars to help his party defeat George Bush. Not a bad downpayment on the $75 million dollars he's pledged to raise in the cause of driving Bush from the White House.

So where are the campaign finance reform cops?

Nary a peep has been heard from Sen. John McCain, whose campaign finance reform legislation has been turned into a joke by the machinations of Clinton insider Harold Ickes.

Ickes, a 1996 campaign finance scandal veteran who's now in charge of raising cash for the party's presidential nominee, has spent the last few months figuring out ways to game the system and sneak in the Soros jackpot.

What about Sen. Feingold, the Wisconsin Democrat with the Mr. Clean image? Doesn't he have anything to say about the Ickes-Soros subterfuge? Apparently not.

That these two campaign finance crusaders remain mute while the Clinton-McAuliffe-Ickes-Soros cabal tips their apple cart over in broad daylight speaks volumes about the effectiveness of their so-called reforms.

After all, McCain, Feingold and the rest of the good government crowd did next to nothing to see that those who broke the old campaign finance laws [see Chinagate] were held to account.

And what about independent watchdog groups like Democracy 21, Common Cause, the Alliance for Better Campaigns and Public Campaign? Oops, apparently they've been lining their pockets with Mr. Soros money as well.

Yesterday Republican National Committee Chairman Ed Gillespie told reporters that Mr. Soros' Open Society Institute has ponied up as much as $18 million to the above groups, raising the spectre that they've been bought off.

Gillespie cited the tepid criticism issued by Democracy 21's Fred Wertheimer upon hearing Mr. Soros' announcement that he was ready to spend every last nickel of his $7 billion fortune to get the Democrat of his choice into the White House.

"I'm sorry Mr. Soros has decided to put so much money into a political effort to defeat a candidate," Wertheimer complained limply.

That ought to scare them straight over at DNC headquarters.

Apparently not.

their "bill" is more about keeping the truth about a political canodirt from reaching the public at "the moment" just before the election...assuring that only the liberally biased major media players were the only ones telling their version..to pliable ears

Well, McCain is a hypocrite, but Finegold is just a common, garden variety dope.

O'Reilly had a scary interview with Dick Morris and that author guy (whose name I can't recall) tonight. Made the hairs stand straight up on the back of my neck.

Unfortunately, I was interrupted several times and couldn't digest it all. I've been trying to find a transcript to post here, but no luck. Anyone know where or how to get one??

(In short, Ickes and Terry McAwful will probably use the $15M to play really dirty tricks to keep Howard Dean from controllng the Dem Party if he wins the nomination. They will do ANYTHING to maintain Clinton control of the party.)

Grampa Dave, I've pinged you since you seem to be a walking encyclopedia on Soros, et al.

I will predict tonight: John McCain will be Howard Dean's running mate: 2 guy's that hate Bush. Offset Dean's military gap. Popular with the media and moderate Dem's. Get some of the south and west vote.

I wonder how much illegal money and semi legal money that McCainal and Finegold got from Soros and his many money laundering schemes.

CFR was a ruse/setup pushed by Soros/Ickes and others that we are not aware of yet.

Thanks, Soros, is probably the big tip of the left wing iceberg of $uper Rich Lunatic Lefties who will do anything to defeat our president.

Throw in Lewis, the owner of Progressive Insurance and Buffet as two of Soro's buddies who hate GW and would spend anything to prevent GW from being re elected. Lewis has pledge millions of $'s to defeat GW. Buffett is smarter, he will do it via the left wing non profits he supports.

I've long wondered how Clinton's billions in payoffs could be brought into the open to work for him/them without becoming obvious as blatant corruption. Through the name, laundering and scheming of Soros I believe I see it happening.

The excited, "Let me help you spend some of that money!" will be whispered by hundreds of thousands of Dims, for example in precinct committeman and poll-watcher positions.

Lots of packs of cigarettes will be handed out and "expenses" for tens of thousands of shuttle bus runs will be compensated for the Dem Clinton cause.

The Clinton confidence is only possible inasmuch as it is disrespectful of any fair proposition such voting as conceived by our Founding Fathers.

2004 election's results may be completely bought and paid for. We best be sure to put a stop to it all.

Thank you, Grampa Dave. I stayed up late last night to catch the rerun of the show with Dick Morris and Douglas Brinkley.

Morris says part of the millions will be used by Harold Ickes and Leon Podesta to shore up Terry McAwful's/Clinton's control over the Rat party in case Howard Dean gets the nomination. If he does win, he won't need McAwful OR the Clintons. They see that as a threat to their power base.

Ickes and Podesta will be working to maintain control of the Rats, by using Soros' (and any other funds from millionaires you mentioned I'm sure) money on behalf of the Clintons for whatever nefarious means they deem necessary, including blackmail, bribes, hush money, etc.

I don't think McCain will attract many votes from the "Confederate flag/pick-up truck" crowd, though...

Not only that, McCain is interested in power, not fame. He already has fame. And, as the chairman of the Senate Commerce Committee in a GOP-majority Congress, he has real power. As the vice-president in a Democrat administration, he'd have none.

I'll say it again, if you can't eliminate the money from the campaigns, then eliminate the campaigns.

Repeal the 17th amendment.

I am embarrassed that this self-important turd, Feingold, is one of my senators. Kohl is simply useless and worthless. It is as though Wisconsin has no representation in the U.S. Senate.
