Katie Couric vs. Matt Lauer

A civil war between the stars of the Peacock network's Today show has been brewing for some time.

A major media insider with a whole bunch of friends at NBC gave NewsMax the real story about the Today program and some of the negative press Matt Lauer has been getting.

Recently, the National Enquirer splashed a cover story alleging Lauer had engaged in drug use almost two decades ago. The story had the corroboration of a house of cards and was based on a lie detector test given to an alleged drug dealer.

NewsMax didn't even bother to cover the story. Is it fair to report such things twenty years after the fact? With so little corroboration? And what importance does it have for the public? After all, we know Matt Lauer has not been an advocate for strict drug enforcement laws.

But the story itself, so out of place, had some scratching their heads as to who might be behind this negative press.

As the Romans might ask, "Cui bono?" -- who benefits by such disclosures about Lauer?

One media insider tells us that Katie Couric's entourage enjoyed the fact Lauer was smashed by the Enquirer. Our source noted Katie's friends were just a little "too gleeful" about Matt's PR problems.

As it turns out, things are not so happy at the morning show. Matt is said to be angry that Katie is the star and that Katie bags all the big interviews.

And Katie doesn't like Matt. Despite her TV persona, our source describes Katie as "Mean. This lady can be vicious and stomp you out like a bug

Maybe it's time to repeat how Couric got the Today show gig.

Remember, Couric was the reporter who was doing a "White House Tour" interview with Barbara Bush when hubby George walked into the room. Couric got an impromptu "scoop" and started asking him questions about circa 1990 affairs. George was hanging around seemingly with nothing else to do, so Couric kept interviewing him. Finally, Barbara had to shoo George out of the room (who very grudgingly left).

NBC played up that scoop for days.

It's a dirty, dog eat dog environment where those who rise to the top are in every sense of the word 'predator'. Katie is no different.

Heh. That reminds me of when Deborah Norville replaced Jane Pauley, and Norville's ex-boyfriend quoted her as saying, "I'll have that little midget's job within a year."

My sentiments exactly. I was just thinking about how nice Diane and Charlie are. They're not ultra liberal like Katie. She makes me ill.

I saw perky Katie as a mean little back-stabber years ago. When President George H.W.Bush was in the White House, Katie did an interview with Barbara Bush. Now this was one of those fluff pieces in the morning. Mrs. Bush was showing Katie around the White House. All of a sudden here comes the President down the hall. Katie dropped Barbara like a hot potato and chased after the President. She kept peppering him with hardball questions, the fluff interview was forgotten. He very nicely declined to answer and escaped her clutches. President Bush came off as a class act-Katie looked like a fool.

...and Grant retorted, "Yes, like 'perky'."

Too bad he didn't call her "affable".

Katie Couric is a miserable creature. Money can't buy her love. Money can't buy her respect. And neither can "perky". She is an extremely spoiled brat! Rotten, one might say.

Anyone else ever noticed how katie's face is totally lopsided? It drives me nuts when I am forced to see her (which is a rare and excruciating experience.) My husband no longer even bothers to try watching anything with her on it b/c he cannot hear the TV through my commentaries! That's as it should be. I'm just protecting my family from her putrid lies.

Ann Coulter's description of Couric as an "affable Eva Braun" seems more apt than ever.

Katie Couric is indeed a very small minded person. Katie actually asked the the underage children of Mitchell (the Elizabeth Smart kidnapper), on air, if their father ever sexually molested them. Then a few weeks later she asked the family of the first service man killed in Iraq, how it felt to have their family member killed in this war. The woman has no feelings.

I e-mailed the station after the Mitchell show and asked them to put Katie's kids on the air and ask them if their father ever sexually molested them.

"They may not be comrades in arms, but they no doubt have the same goal regarding the VRWC."

Maybe not..........I recall not long ago, (last spring?) Rush Limbaugh announced that he was playing golf with Matt Lauer, at a celebrity tournament......Lauer was part of Rush's "foursome".....and it sounded like Rush really LIKED Lauer.........maybe Katie feels "left"-out...hahaha...NOT!!

The few times I've seen her convinced me she is a heartless Bi#$%. Can't stand her.

She has no conscience or tact.

Have you ever seen two women go at it (referring to lesbian sex)?said one of the regulars on The View. Anne Coulter responded that something to the fact that she saw Katie and Hillary on Television and that was the closest she had seen two go at it (sexually) on TV.
