If free trade were really on the table for the Americas, people would join goods and services atop an open borders buffet.
But when trade ministers talk tariff trimming and regulation reduction at Miami's upcoming Free Trade Area of the Americas meeting, immigration policy is strictly off the menu.
"It's a very politically sensitive issue," said Dan Griswold of the libertarian Cato Institute in Washington. "It's hard enough tackling sugar and citrus and steel without putting immigration on the table."

Let's give something a try, here...just to see if I got the HTML correct. Clicking the icon should do a keyword search for 'ALIENS' and show the results in a new window.

The two issues, trade and immigration, shouldn't be in the same bill. Our "leaders" have tried to sneak immigration matters into trade bills before, and it stinks.

We were told by Gore and Clinton that NAFTA would reduce the number of illegals. George Bush is encouraging more illesgals by not enforcing our borders.
I'll bet they don't talk about all of the FREE health care, Free education, FREE food stamps, and FREE welfare payments to illegals.

Soon the takers will outnumber the givers. Is that what our "leaders" want for America? If this continues, America will soon resemble a third world cesspool.
