Jewish Agency sends relief to Istanbul
By JENNY HAZAN
The Jewish Agency for Israel sent a delegation of seven Turkish-speakers - among them two psychologists who are terror specialists and two youth leaders who are familiar with the Istanbul Jewish community to Istanbul on Saturday night, after hearing of the simultaneous bombings of two Istanbul synagogues, that took the lives of at least 20 and wounded over 260.
"In the case of the Istanbul community, they called us to request post-trauma assistance to children, as well as educational activities for young people," said Director General Giora Romm.
"The community there is waiting for them."
The mission, led by Head of the Jewish Agency Education Department Amos Hermon, is supported in Jerusalem by the situation room, which opened after the attack in order to serve individuals in search of information on those who were killed or injured.
"Every time something like this happens, the only Jewish organization that has such a global reach is the Jewish Agency," said Romm.
