This came in my email this morning and I set out to find out what this is all about -- still not sure but I did go to the website and it looks like a Government program. Talked to OK Attorney General, US Attorney in OKC, FBI in OKC, two agencies of Homeland Security and finally received this phone number to call, however, it is continually busy -- 1-703-578-4901 -- want to know what this is all about. Do they screen these people applying or can any terrorist put in for the lottery and stand a good chance of getting a green card?

Would appreciate it if anyone has any information to share because frankly I don't approve of this and secondly, I want to know how I ended up on their email list!

Right now I am being passed from agency to agency and having worked for the Government, I know what a run-around is -- funny that no one will say they have heard of this program of a lottery for people to get green cards and come here to work.

What is the Diversity Visa Lottery Program?

Each year, 50,000 immigrant visas are made available through a lottery to people who come from countries with low rates of immigration to the United States.

None of these visas are available for people who come from countries that have sent more than 50,000 immigrants to the United States in the past five years.

The State Department's National Visa Center holds the lottery every year, and chooses winners randomly from all qualified entries.

Anyone who is selected under this lottery will be given the opportunity to apply for permanent residence.

If permanent residence is granted, then the individual will be authorized to live and work permanently in the United States.

You will also be allowed to bring your spouse and any unmarried children under the age of 21 to the United States.

Well, we have a big problem, in that a great many of the Republicans for whom we're supposed to vote are just as bad as the Democrats when it comes to favoring nonsensical immigration policies, malfeasant non-enforcement, and Amnesty for Illegal Aliens.

I've decided not to vote for such Republicans, with the probable exception of President Bush. The Executive Branch and the WoT are too important right now for that kind of protest vote.

So, in the meantime, states like California and Arizona are going to bypass the Republicans and Democrats and put measures against Illegals directly on the ballot. I think the rest of the country should follow suit.

Remembered something about that but had no idea what they were talking about. When this ended up in email, I couldn't believe it and the worst was not being able to get an answer from the run-around gang in the Government.

They could have cared less -- does that mean if I had a tip of someone that they would treat it the same way?

I am appalled at Government workers and I used to be one but when someone called my office I tried to get them answers -- these people from OK Attorney General, FBI, US Attorney -- all in OKC, Department of Homeland Security, INS, just kept giving me another number to call.

I think every State should follow suit. We have a Sheriff in the Tulsa area that said if he gets any more illegals, he will rent his own bus and take them back personally since INS is so understaffed here.

The gov't bureaucracies are all controlled by the Democrats. It's sad, but true. Remember, all lawyers are Democrats, too (well, most of them). My son had a roommate whose step father was the lawyer for Timothy McVeigh, the one that quit because of threats to his family, and I asked the kid if his father was a Democrat or Republican, and he said, a Democrat, he's a lawyer.

They've advertised this lottery in newspapers here for years.They let in 50,000 people from countries who usually dont immigrate to America.You cant enter if you're from countries like Mexico,India,Pakistan,Canada,UK,China etc because they already have high rates of immigration to the US.All i know besides that is that about 200 of the 50,000 go to Australians/Kiwis and 5000 go to Nicaraguans by default.
