Female private subdues suspected terrorist (gets medal)

Pfc. Jessica Lynn Nicholson, 21, a soldier with the 1st Armored Division, 40th Engineer Battalion, Headquarters and Headquarters Company, earned the Army Commendation Medal after a June 7 incident in which she subdued an Iraqi man who passed through her Baghdad checkpoint carrying a grenade.
Nicholson was assigned to the checkpoint to search women.
The incident occurred when one of the other Soldiers at the checkpoint was suspicious after conducting a preliminary search of the car. When he discovered the weapon, he yelled, "grenade."
Nicholson then took the suspect to the ground, holding him until he could be restrained with plastic "zip cuffs."
She said that she wrestled competitively in high school, and has also boxed with some of the men in her company.
Nicholson has served in the Army for about a year and a half.
She operates the M-249 Squad Automatic Weapon in addition to her other duties.

I'm surprised she wasn't brought up on charges for having gotten physical with a male Muslim since it's against their religion to have physical contact with any female other than their wife (wives).

Looking at the coloration on the brush, and this is a wild guess, something to do with getting sand out of the weapon or the turret mechanism.

I wish I had gunner like that when I was in Nam. My gunner was 6' 5" and ugly as sin, could hump a load though, came from the pray and spray school.
