Just read that the man who own Curves is a Christian
I know several ladies who work out there and like it
Its based on "circuit" training which is pretty effective

I belong to Curves and it's great! You definitely see results, and you don't have to worry about A. being ogled by men with mullets who wear zoobas and B. women who are professional athletes making you feel fat! :)

I have lost 18 1/2 inches in 6 months at Curves going 4 days a week.

Two just opened around here. They look pretty busy. Whatever works for folks. More power to 'em.

I know what you mean. I'm embarrassed to work out in our local gym where guys (and, sometimes, gals) bench press a Ford pickup.
I work out in my garage. Boring.

My wife owns a Curves-like club. But hers also provides nutritional counseling like a Weight Watchers. Plus she does massages, tanning, etc. The women love it and many have seen tremendous results.
And I might ad... [ahem]... that her music is not "cheesy." It is very upbeat and is loved by ladies both young and old. [In case you couldn't tell, I made the music for her.]
[Right now I am listening to a Madonna/Ozzy Ozborne mix.]

I'm not so sure. I have three "substantial" girlfriends who belong to the local Curves, and after 2-3 years each, they are still the same size. They say they like it because you don't have to sweat too much, proving that machines just don't give you the best workout.
I visited once when the place first opened and noticed the patrons moving around between machines very slowly, losing the aerobic impact of a circuit workout. If you want to be in superior condition in the least amount of time you have to use free weights combined with aerobic activity.
