SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. -- Hundreds of San Francisco Bay Area kids are saying no thanks to their Halloween candy.
Schools in the Bay Area are returning their M&M's and Snickers bars to candy maker Mars.
The children are taking part in a nationwide protest of the company's alleged use of child labor to make cocoa. International human rights organization Global Exchange is leading the effort.

Hundreds of San Francisco Bay Area kids are saying no thanks to their Halloween candy.Shouldn't this read "Hundreds of Bay Area Parents are co-opting Halloween from their kids"?

I bet it is the kids parents who are taking the chocolate away. I want to see the kid who willingly gave back his loot.

Oh well maybe they will save their teeth, fools.

What a dumb idea. The point of a boycott is to make the target take notice though reduced sales. This candy is already bought and paid for.

Bull. I don't know a single child that would send his M&M's back -- especially for something as assinine as this...
Just damn.

Go out and trick or treat for candy just to give it back. Yep, that makes a lot of sense, explains the sad situation of San Francisco these days.

Some poor kid is getting paid to make cocoa and they're trying to take away his job and probably only income...? How thoughtful.

"I don't know a single child that would send his M&M's back..." No Texas kid, but this is San Francisco.
Yeah, I believe it.

The amazing thing is that if their little boycott works, they'll end up putting these "Child Laborers" out of work. What will happen to these poor oppressed people's standard of living then? Oh right, I'd guess it would be even worse. There's liberal compassion for ya.

Poor, brainwashed kids.

So-called activist types using children to make a political statement is unsettling to me.

This candy is already bought and paid for.The little libs don't want to hurt the company, nonono, that would be mean. This is a neo-lib means of protest that, unlike evil conservative protests that shoot straight for the wallet, this is just a protest of "feeling". :-)
Or, IOW, a big waste of time, but the press release was picked up and published.

Of course. They are being trained to take political action with someone else's dime. They are probably being patted on their heads for sacrificing the hard earned candy. They worked so hard mooching it off of the people that paid for it! Good little indoctrinees!
