yes I understand what you are saying now... I'm not too familiar with abductions.
I heard Smart's father on Sean Hannity, and I was angry with the way Sean was kissing his a$$. You are right. If parents are aware, unless the beast is shrewd, very hard to snatch a child. Sean excused him inviting a slob into their home, saying 'it wasn't New York City'... whatever.

Ah yes, I heard that too. That was in response to a call from Massachusettes (I remember the guy's Boston accent!).
I was listening with hubby in the car, and I said, that inviting homeless drifters into your house is probably not very smart, esp. if you've got beautiful young children around. Then I remembered how I took off from work this summer when we had new windows put in, because I knew my daughter would come home from school while the window installers would be there. And one of the window guys was a real sweetheart, I have no doubt you could leave both your granny and your newborn with him and no harm would come to either, but the OTHER guy, he did not have such a wonderful vibe. I'm not saying he was a criminal, but he just verged on the "not totally cool" range.
People are foolish, they are naive, they are careless. With children, constant vigilance is the only way.

Sean isn't the brightest blub on the Christmas tree. Isn't it comforting creeps are assigned a NYC zip code so the rest of the nation doesn't have to be diligent?

I agree - the parents don't seem to realize that being "kind" to indigent people can be threatening to their children. It's just more of the liberal mindset .. these people are victims - not predators.
