Arizona GOP Rep. J.D. Hayworth, in a letter to President Bush, declares that a "balkanization" of the United States must not be allowed and accuses Mexico of acting "more as an accomplice in illegal immigration than a partner in preventing it."

This is in sharp contrast to the resurrected (and poorly named) DREAM Act in the US Senate and its companion bill in the house, the so-called "Student Adjustment Act of 2003".

The letter is to formally be sent to the White House next Wednesday, the day after Fox's planned visit to Arizona.

Illegal immigration is one of the most serious problems that faces America's future and 85% of American's oppose any form of blanket amnesty. It's good to see JD Hayworth speaking out on this issue and letting PresBush know where he stands. Coloardo Rep.Tom Tancredo is very passionate about opposing both illegal immigration and amnesty and he isn't alone.

Those American's who support open borders and amnesty, condone the criminal element and international terrorism. This isn't something fair minded American's should be supporting.

Hayworth tells the president he sympathizes with Mexico's problems: "its statist economy, hugely inefficient public sector, laws that limit foreign investment and inability to create enough jobs for its people, etc."

Good for J.D. and the others who will sign his letter.

Dag-Nabbit, though...how does this square with the Kolbe/McCain legislation backed by the entire AZ delegation this summer that opened the doors to guest laboreres?

This is either a major flip-flop, or the earlier legislation was mis-reported, or...or perhaps one or the other of these actions was supported for political reasons with the full knowledge it would never see the President's desk.

This one begs for clarification.

I heard today that Mexico's number 2 income producer is the money that's sent from the US by legals/illegals. Number one is their oil production. Just think about that. This is an enormous amount of money that leaves the US. Imagine if that money were to stay here?

And he is unrealistic to think the American citizen is going to sit still for another amnesty, especially one in which we pick up and extra ten million or more citizens, already breaking our budgets, overnight.

We have been abused, missused, and throughly rousted out of our own mall's, schools, theaters, and grocery stores. Malls can't make it on a bunch of rubber necking illegals, not buying a darn thing, and citizens won't go there while the place is full of illegals. They are leaving, they can leave on their own hook or not but leave they will or all these incompetent politicians will find themselves looking for jobs Americans won't do.

Unless I am mistaken JD has in the past called for worker permits that lead to legal residence. But i could be wrong, anyone else remember for sure?
