RUTLAND, Vt. -- A West Rutland man was charged Monday with storing a dead rattlesnake in his freezer. Timothy Duprey, 40, pleaded not guilty to criminal charges of possessing an animal protected under Vermont's endangered species law.
Duprey said he found the snake dead on the side of the road in Fair Haven in August. Fair Haven and West Haven are the only two locations in Vermont where the snakes are believed to live.
Game Warden Robert Sterling said it does not matter that the snake was dead; possessing it is still a crime.
Rattlesnakes are not protected under federal law, but they are considered endangered in Vermont.
Duprey could be fined $600 and lose his hunting license for three years.

Just curious. What led to the state of Vermont finding the snake? Reasonable suspicion and a search warrant?

When rattlesnakes are outlawed, only outlaws will have rattlesnakes.

The game warden and any judge that would hear this case are MORONS!
I say we pass a federal law to remove MORONS like this from the gene pool immediately! The are endangering OUR species.
Howard Dean looks like a dead human...would it be illegal to vote for him?

"Howard Dean looks like a dead human...would it be illegal to vote for him? "No but should rats ever become endangered, it would be illegal to store him in your freezer.....or would it?

Hey Vermont you want rattlesnakes i'll give you rattlesnakes come and get them. They are endangered here at the ranch if they make a sound or if they are seen.Someone should turn a sack full loose on the senate floor or whatever dummies protect them. The laws would change after they changed thier soiled drawers IMHO.

If vermont is so concerned about their rattlesnake population I will be more than happy to ship them a whole crate full of them. just give me a week to round them up.
