Feds Raid Wal-Marts to Arrest 60, Leave with 300

(2003-10-23) -- Federal agents raided Wal-Mart stores in 21 states intending to arrest 60 illegal aliens, but instead they left the stores with 300.

"You know how it is with Wal-Mart," said an unnamed spokesman from the federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement office. "You go in there to buy some toilet paper and a jug of milk, and you wind up with a full cart. If we'd have sent our wives on these raids, they would have arrested 900 illegals."

Less than a mile from my house every morning there are 60 or so latins, I assume illegals, standing around a street corner waiting to be picked for day labor. The feds could of saved a lot of money and time if they had scooped up the ones near me. I assume considering all the publicity thiese arrests received, that the feds were sending some kind of message. I am not sure what it was.

The parody is humorous.

The reality is not.

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - Federal agents raided Wal-Mart's headquarters and 60 of its stores across the country Thursday, arresting more than 300 illegal workers in an immigration crackdown at the world's biggest retailer.

The workers were members of cleaning crews hired by outside contractors, but federal law enforcement officials who spoke on the condition of anonymity said Wal-Mart had direct knowledge of the immigration violations. They cited recordings of meetings and conversations among Wal-Mart executives, managers and contractors.

When are Americans going to wake up to the fact that our Corporate Masters (who have subverted the Republic) are not the "Patriotic Color Guard of Capitalism" but rather parasites that use the US marketplace and military strength, paired with the innumerable serfs of the third world, to extract their obscene profit margins?

The same day these guys get busted , the Senate passes in state tuition, for illegals. This is a joke! All the stores do it! I worked at Target, they have been pulling this crap since 92. This bust is a payback from Target, and other stores. Wasn't Wal Mart a big Clinton supporter? HMMM,I wonder......Naw!

Bad apples is a good analogy.

You are aware what happens when a "bad apple" is left in the basket with the rest - correct?

The same thing that happens in a marketplace where one of the players is allowed to cheat - the rest go rotten to compete.

I dunno, but it seems like expending all that man power to arrest 300 workers is rather stupid. I know some construction jobs out here in LA that they could find that many just by driving up to the site.

This Wal-Mart story is gonna be a lot of smoke and no fire. A sobering slap would be jail time for Wal-Mart execs. Chances of that are slim and none. This is about fooling the public into believing something is being done about illegal immigrant workers. Wal-Mart might have to pay a fine (nothing but chump change to them).

I agree with part of what you say, but the way you worded your statement is no different from what I've read of Noam Chomsky. The corruption that we see today/yesterday is a direct reflection of the trade-at-all cost we saw coming out of the 90's...led by none other than Bill Clinton. That administration put profits ahead of everything and the attitude was obviously mimicked by many in the coorporate world. Coorporations are like anyone else...you give 'em an inch they'll take a mile. Clinton gave 'em a mile and left the bad apples behind.

Same thing where I live.

I also know a person who worked for a big gun manufacturer. She told me that they had to fire an illegal who was using a bogus SS#. When he was let go, he had worked there so long that it would have been less than a year before he drew a pension.

Agree with you both. All sectors business are using any method to glean a profit. The "poor" farmer has used the method of "farming for insurance" for the last 10 years approved by Clinton. The little guy farming is too proud to be so greedy. We all pay this bill via the insurance rates.

The net worth of the WalMart family equals the USA trade deficit with China. They employ 1.1 million workers. If the fine for each illegal is $10,000, I wonder how much revenue the government will pick up from this little endeavor when it's all done? That would send a great message to corporate America to stop hiring illegals.
I did an employee benefit enrollment in a 100 employee company at which the HR lady did a social security audit and found 10 to be illegal. (They were using fake SS#s and some had other SS#s which they were using tio collect worker's comp and welfare benefits). If that formula holds up, 10% of 1.1 million is over 100,000 possible illegals at WalMart alone. Quite a bit of chump change for the government. If they keep thes raids up, maybe we'll get another tax rebate AND get rid of a bunch of illegals.

Arrested? Yes. But if no wants or warrants they were all released into America with a promise to appear at immigration hearings.

How many do you think will just skip the hearing and stay here?

If a person needs to see the amount of illegal aliens living in my community, just go to our local grocery store and watch taxi cabs come and go filled with loads of illegal's. It's amazing how big some illegal's family can be.

I also know a person who worked for a big gun manufacturer. She told me that they had to fire an illegal who was using a bogus SS#. When he was let go, he had worked there so long that it would have been less than a year before he drew a pension.

The trick would have been: What number/name could he have drawn the pension under/ If he is using someone's else's number, then the NUMBER gets the credit for the earnings, I believe. When I went to file for my ss, I had to have lots of proof of my name, birth status, and my correct ss number, etc.
As fas as I can tell, no one has ever worked with my number and given me credits I didn't earn---Let's see now- is that good or bad?????

The standing joke in the Miami area is that if one went into the Homestead WalMart and were to scream "Li Migra1, La Migra! " - there would be stampede for the doors.

Fortunately, no one has done it or doubtlessly injuries would occur when the stampede hit the doors, ala soccer crowds or the one in the tunnel at the Haj in Mecca.

"But cheap labor is cheap labor", said the MBA under his/her breath.

I'm suprised they even bothered, out of the 300 arrested not one will end up deported.
