The Senate Judiciary Committee passed a bill yesterday allowing illegal immigrant students to gain legal status and to pay in-state tuition rates at state colleges and universities.
But lawmakers removed provisions that would have allowed immediate permanent residence for those age 30 or younger who had already completed the requirements.

This is so wrong that it makes me ill, but it is the result of our country's open border policy -- Not just our politicians, but our own citizens. They would not have come here -- and stayed -- if communities and corporations did not welcome them. We hear of cases across the country where our own local law enforcement refuses to deport any illegals they happen upon. And they are not allowed by many government officials to target illegals (NY, for example).
This is not the fault of any one administration -- the fault lies with our society as a whole, that has accepted illegals for too many years.

If you Senators don't want our support, then just continue to support illegal aliens and our votes will vanish! That's a promise, Sir.
Where in the hell do you think this parasite is going to get respect for the United States from? A comic book? That's what our REPUBLICAN WHITE HOUSE , CONGRESS and SENATE look like to these people.
You give our HARD EARNED MONEY to a person who snuck across our borders in the middle of the night. A person who initially paid no taxes but sure had both hands out for our medical care, our housing, our welfare. A person who defies you to enforce the law.
Respect for the law? Ha, ha, ha, ha. Evade the Border Patrol and you're home free! Every ILLEGAL ALIEN in the US loves it here because you REWARD them for committing criminal acts!
Are you drunk when you vote? You must be because I'll bet your great grandfather would take you behind the house and whip your butt if he were alive today.
You need to start thinking about the damage you are doing to our country by voting this way. Reread your Oath of Office and the Constitution before you cast another vote!

Never mind that the VAST majority of Americans have CONSISTENTLY said that they are against illegal immigration in every poll ever taken on the subject.

I get it now. If this bill manages to reach Bush's desk and he signs it's not his fault. It's OUR FAULT! It's our fault because we elected him even though we don't what illegal immigration or seek to encourage it. Do I have you right? No wait you indicated that most Americans want open borders yet somehow this does not correspond to what they say to pollsters. This is getting confusing.
In any event according to you the buck on this somehow never reaches Bush's desk even though he is president and in charge of protecting our borders. Indeed, it's still laying on some past administration's desk and, of course, everyone does it. Where have I heard that before?
Anyway it's our fault for voting for these Open Border politicians to begin with. So, let's let them off the hook and beat ourselves up for electing them because even though we don't want/want illegal immigrantion we keep on electing those who do.
Oh and remember to Vote for Bush! It's not his fault he does what he does, It's ours! What a great campaign slogan.
To help clear your confusion, my premise was that our government allowed open borders for years, and too many of our citizens encouraged this by hiring them. Do you think they would have continued to come here if no one gave them jobs? So yeah, to a great extent, we have been complicate in helping to establish them here.
You didn't hire them. I didn't hire them, but someone did -- and this should have been stopped long ago. Take all the polls you want -- my vote would be to stop them before they ever crossed over, or send them back immediately once they did. But that didn't happen. They went to our schools and no one stopped them. They got married, had more babies, and no one stopped them.
They didn't ask me. They obviously didn't ask you. But no one stopped them.
As for this latest outrageous legislation, I sent protest e-mails to our legislation through FAIR, but apparently my voice joined with thousands of others wasn't loud enough.
My initial post was simply pointing out that we were silent for too long. These students were allowed to stay here too long, and now they have gained a voice in our policies.
Close our borders now, and hopefully we won't have to address this same issue again in the future.
My Preview is still not working, so I'll again take my chances and post.

"This is a significant involvement in immigration law. It's a statement that we give up on existing law," Mr. Sessions said. "All we've done is further weaken the morality and integrity of the system."
The bill passed 16-3, with opposition coming from Republican Sens. Lindsey Graham of South Carolina, Saxby Chambliss of Georgia and Mr. Sessions.
Nobody has a reliable estimate of how many students would be affected by the bill or how much it would cost taxpayers.
Sen. Jon Kyl, Arizona Republican, said it was critical to make sure illegal immigrants weren't receiving more benefits than legal immigrants under the bill.
