Palestinian gets 16 life sentences for driving Sbarro bomber
By JPOST.COM STAFF
A female Hamas activist was sentenced to 16 consecutive life sentences for driving the Palestinian suicide bomber who blew up the Sbarro restaurant in Jerusalem some two years ago, killing 15 people.
A military tribunal sentenced Jordanian-born Ahlam Tamimi, 23, for driving the suicide bomber to the restaurant on August 9, 2001. Fifteen people were killed in the attack and over a hundred others were injured.
According to a transcript of the trial, Tamimi was the first woman to be recruited by the Izzadine el-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of the Hamas movement.
The judges said that Tamimi initiated and planned several parts of the attack. "This is a woman who was fully aware of what she was doing and acted with the goal of spilling Israeli blood."
In July 2001, Tamimi, a student at the Birzeit University near the West Bank city of Ramallah, planted a bomb in a supermarket located on King George Street in Jerusalem. The bomb, which was hidden in a garbage

Let's hope this SOB doesn't get out in a prisoner trade.
One of the people he helped murder was a pregnant woman, a teacher, from New Jersey.

16 consecutive life sentences...? Excuse me!?! Doesn't this qualify for the death penalty?

No. Israel has the death penalty for only one crime: genocide.

Somehow I don't think so. None of Israel's releases of Palestinian prisoners have included those "with blood on their hands".

I would think most Palestinian prisoners have "blood on their hands". That is why they are, or were, prisoners.

Sixteen life sentences in Palestinian years is about one dog year, which is around two months.
