I guess so.

I'll try Target and a few of the new ones and see what type of response I get.

I especially hate the fact that the DU'er who started this site is getting away with it all. I hope that the companies replies to me were merely not 'lip service'.

Maybe with enough emails boycotting the unknowing sponsers will it end and the boneheads charade will cease to exist.

I know he reads our site (although he took down his "freeper special") - and has to be steaming that so many sponsors have so far pulled their ads from his 'brainstorm'. (I esp. love how he went from a projection of $10 million to... well... maybe we can make $4,000).

When you advertise on the internet, you can pay the hosting site by the clickthrough (counting each person clicking through the banner to the store), by the sale or conversion made as a result of that clickthrough, or by "impressions" (similar to TV or radio advertising, in which you estimate the size of the audience and number of people likely to be looking at a banner).

You don't have to give up buying from these stores. This is disgusting, but all they're doing is paying for number of clickthroughs and number of conversions to sales (or so it seems to me). In other words, unless you come to Amazon's or Barnes & Noble's site through this moron's site, they get nothing.

I went to Google to see what they had in their cache file on this site. You won't believe this.  One of the links on the right is called FREEPER SPECIAL and it takes you to Amazon books with the word Free in it.  Check out the cached file , go here:  CLICK HERE

It appears he moved all the logos to a separate page... and added a big disclaimer that these sites are NOT supporting him.

It appears he lost a good bit of 'sponsors', but keeps adding more and more.

Just hate to see him make any money on this prank. He now states that whatever leftover from the $4k goes to moveon.org.... OH THE JOY.

Thought I would post this email from the "web master" himself. I received it on one of my "free email accounts" I use occasionally, to send email out to people like this. I notified him that we were "on to him" at one point in the discussion and we were working on "shutting him down". LOL.

I forgot to check the email until today (weeks afterward). This is what he had to say:

Dear person who wouldn't even use his/her name,

You guys sure are organized, I've got to give you that. SOmebody on one of hte lefty websites had the same view you do, about the site being a scam. He actually said "If some freeper posted this, we'd all know he was scamming everybody."

SO we aren't all that different.

As a matter of fact, I think 10% for fundraising is pretty normal.

But if I was scamming all those lefties, why bother to have the merchants pull their affiliation? The logic doens't really follow.

Anyway, as I say to most of you guys, I sincerely hope you have a long and healthy life. And I hope you forget to vote next election.
