Former Bosnian President Izetbegovic Dies
Former Bosnian President Alija Izetbegovic Dies of Complications After Fall at Age 78
The Associated Press
SARAJEVO, Bosnia-Herzegovina Oct. 19 Alija Izetbegovic, who led Bosnia's Muslims during the 1992-95 war for independence then became one of the multiethnic republic's first postwar presidents, died Sunday, a hospital official said. He was 78.
Izetbegovic died of complications that developed after he was hospitalized for injuries sustained from a fall in his home, said Dr. Ismet Gavrankapetanovic, the head of Sarajevo's Kosevo clinic.
"The former president of Bosnian-Herzegovina died in the Kosevo hospital today," Gavrankapetanovic was quoted as saying by state radio.
Izetbegovic's condition had become critical on Friday when doctors could not stop bleeding in his left lung, the hospital reported.
The former president had been admitted to Sarajevo's main hospital weeks ago after breaking four ribs and injuring his shoulder during a fall at his home.

Another terrorist down one way or another!
9/11 showed islamic jihadists for what they really are.....MURDEROUS MONSTERS.
Some of the same so-called "charities" which supported islamic terrorists in Bosnia are the same ones which supported bin laden and 9/11. Islamics operating right here in the USA have been arrested. I read that some of the terrorists in GITMO, actually fought with bin laden's forces in Bosnia.
THESE ISLAMIC GROUPS ARE LIKE NESTS OF SNAKES. They have nests all over the place. They claim to be peaceful, they claim to be doing good charity work, they claim to helping find mullah-chaplians for the US military.... THEY ARE DANGEROUS SNAKES!!
bin laden's islamic followers operated a so-called charity in Chicago which provided funds for terrorists operating in Bosnia and in Afganistan. This shows us that islamics are pretty brazen. Maybe they even posted on FR in support of Bosnian islamics.
"Individual justice can never be fully satisfied within the conditions of existence. We can follow all Islamic rules which, in their ultimate result, should provide us with the "happiness in both worlds"; moreover, we can follow all other norms, medical, social and moral but, because of the terrific entanglement of destinies, desires and accidents, we can still suffer in body and soul."
So much for his "peaceful" Islamic pitch---As for Izzies' sordid and murderous political past - that's for you to research. If you need help let me know.
You have read the book, haven't you?
I mean, you'd look pretty stupid attempting to discuss a work you yourself haven't read, wouldn't you?
The facts about Izebegovic and his Islamicists speak for themselves.
Thanks for helping to clear that up.
Why would it matter? He could have added that he loves puppies and children after but this is the part that damns him.
"There can be neither peace nor coexistence between the Islamic faith and non-Islamic social and political institutions," and "The Islamic movement must and can take over political power as soon as it is morally and numerically so strong that it can not only destroy the existing non-Islamic power, but build up a new Islamic one."
Do you deny these are his words, Hoplite?
Consider it done.
I have to ensure that Bosnia remains a multiethnic community. The constitution calls for the executive power to be divided among Serbs, Croats, and Muslims. Our Prime Minister is Croatian, and the president of our assembly is Serbian. They're being pulled toward extreme positions by the nationalist leaderships in Belgrade and Zagreb - outside forces that we can't control. Nationalism is also very strong here in Bosnia, particularly among the Serbs. Still, we have to make this system work, and I'm trying my best to do that.
Izetbegovic, as related by Zimmerman, Origins of a Catastrophe p. 115.
Neither the SDA's political platform nor any actions taken by the Sarajevo Government before, during, or after the war support the notion that Izetbegovic was interested in turning Bosnia into an Islamic state - it had, and retains, a Christian majority, and the Muslim community was never fundamentalist by any stretch of the imagination.
Furthermore, unlike Afghanistan or Iraq, the perversely anticipated attacks on American servicemen never materialized in Bosnia, giving further lie to the whole "Jihad" disinformation campaign waged by Serb and Croat nationalists - we used Islamic fighters to stop the Russians, and the Bosnians used them to stop the Serbs - the big difference being we have not let those in Bosnia fall off the radar screen to foment more trouble.
Do you deny that the Serbs destroyed more Churches during the 1990's than the Bosnian Muslims?
You don't know a Jihad when you see one, Destro.
This is what his book said:

Quote from Bosnian President Alijah Izetbegovic's book, "Islamic Declaration:" "...There can be no peace or coexistence between the "Islamic faith" and non-Islamic societies and political institutions. Islam clearly excludes the right and possibility of activity of any strange ideology on its own turf
and the state should be an expression
of the religion. ..." ('Islamska Deklaracija,' p. 22)
