PRAYER THREAD FOR TERRI SCHINDLER SCHIAVO
Those Who Stand Vigil | 10/19/03 | Pegita

Posted on 10/18/2003 11:44:36 PM PDT by Pegita

Those who stand Vigil have asked that a Prayer Thread for Terri Schiavo be started for any wishing to comfort and encourage Terri's family and friends and those who have labored on her behalf. Another Vigil will be held at 1:00 p.m. today at the Woodside Hospice, and another will be held at 3:00 p.m. today in front of the White House, through the efforts of an organization for the disabled.

One of our traveling FReepers is now at the Vigil and has met with Terri's family and speaks of their enormous grief. Terri's mom has been given some lotion, which she will use to tend Terri's feet. Prayers posted will be printed and given to Bob and Mary Schindler and their son and daughter ~ may they find some measure of comfort in our words.

Heavenly Father, we return to give You thanks for the love You have shown us. We are not worthy to cast our eyes heavenward, but You have deemed us to be a little lower than the angels. You count us precious, and in praise we lift up one who is so precious to so many ~ our beloved Terri. We love her ~ You love her most. We take part in her suffering ~ we grieve with broken hearts. Would that we could take her burden, we would, as surely as You carry our own.

May the earnest prayer and petition, the river of tears, the silent ache, the unspeakable grief, may they rise to Your Throne of Grace and return to enfold Terri with the sweetest love and the most profound comfort. May there be music within her soul ... may there be a glimpse of the heavenlies ... and may she rise to greet You when You call her home.

In Your love, You forget not her parents ~ you forget not her brother and sister ~ you forget not those who have labored for her life. Even now, Lord God, we pray that You would lengthen her days, for You are God. Even now, Merciful Father, we want her to remain. Even now, Creator God, we acknowledge that You are Sovereign.

Into Your loving hands we place our beloved Terri and thank You for the fellowship she has given to us as, worlwide, we have called upon You as we whispered her sweet name.

To You be all Glory and Honor and Majesty ... You, the One who has made us a little lower than the angels ... You, the Creator of our beloved Terri.

May Your Name be glorified forever and ever, Amen ~

+ Blest Be the Tie That Binds

Blest be the tie that binds Our hearts in Christian love; The fellowship of kindred minds Is like to that above.

Before our Father's throne We pour our ardent prayers; Our fears, our hopes, our aims are one, Our comforts and our cares.

We share each other's woes, Our mutual burdens bear, And often for each other flows The sympathizing tear.

When we asunder part, It gives us inward pain; But we shall still be joined in heart, And hope to meet again. Amen

Americans rightly take pride in caring for the sick, the poor, the helpless among us. These words grace the Statue of Liberty:

"Give me your tired, your poor, Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.

Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me, I lift my lamp beside the golden door!"

If Terri Schiavo dies, Miss Liberty's lamp will grow dim and those words will be stained forevermore.

Father, You have seared our souls with Terri's travails, and so many of us have been united in prayer for this precious lamb. I know You are standing by her bedside, along with legions of your angels. I know You are fully aware of the individuals responsible for Terri's mistreatment, and that Your displeasure weighs heavy on their shoulders. Grant them no rest, no peace, no joy, no refuge until they face You and make ammends for their decisions and actions.

Father, I ask once more that You allow Terri to remain with us...but I also rest upon Your wisdom and plans. If, by Terri's homecoming, our nation becomes alarmed and enraged to point of casting out the heartless and merciless from high office, then Terri will have accomplished far more in her sufferings than most of us accomplish in a lifetime. If You do choose to bring her home, then I ask that she and others like her become a focal point for the renewal of our nation's compassion and morality. Inspire all of us to make the preservation of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness for every citizen a priority, instead of a historical footnote.

You are in control, Father...Your plans are never vexed or defeated. Ease the sufferings of her loved ones, let them know You are completely aware of all events, and that You will care for Terri regardless of the outcome. Thank You, Father. Amen.

May the grief of this family be made bearable.

May those who mourn be comforted.

May Christ hold Terri tightly within His arms, especially during the next few very difficult days.

May God remove all suffering from this travesty of justice and act of evil.

My Dear God: Please bless Terry and all of those involved surrounding this horrible situation. Please turn events so that Your Will, not Satan's, be done through this series of events. In Jesus' Name, I pray.

Heavenly Father, Terri has touched the hearts of lots of people, including myself. We know You love her and she is loved by many.. she's our sister in You. We come to you again to ask for a miracle. Father, please turn this situation around and stop this killing. And please surround Terri and her family with Your peace and strength, to get through this most difficult time.

Heavenly Father, if you have a different plan, please help us to understand why this atrocity is taking place. I pray that this wakes people up, and changes people's hearts, and lets them see that life is precious, and that only You, the giver of life, can decide when it's our time to die. Thank you Father. In Jesus' name I pray.

Please know that the Lord's Angels are in the room with her and they are tending to her! I pray that it is not the way and time that she will be with Yeshua but it is to Him she will go if it is the time. Truth will come and justice will be done for it is a promise of our Lord. For in the end evil shall not prevail as it is written.

Heavenly Father, I come to you in the mighty Name of Your Son, Jesus Christ; the Healer; the Shepherd of the sheep; the Comforter; our Provider; our Great High Priest; the Way, the Truth and the Life.

Lord, You know the situation far above our small capacity to know--You are Omniscient.

Father, you are also All-Powerful, and yet have instructed us to 'ask what we will'. So this morning, we pray for mercy for our sister Terri Schiavo. Enfold her in the peace and the love and the joy that only Your Spirit can bring. Feed her, Lord; spirit, soul and body. Pour out Your living Water, Lord--quench her thirst, as evil men prevent us from doing so in Your stead.

We pray for those who love Terri. Comfort and strengthen them for the hard days ahead. Reward their faithfulness with the joy that comes in the morning.

We pray for our political leaders. Give them wisdom, conviction and understanding. Empower them and inspire them to stand boldly for justice and mercy and righteousness; and to act quickly before evil has had its chance to claim its victim.

Bind those who are acting wickedly, Lord. Bind their hands, cloud their minds, take away their arrogant power right away, and for all the world to see--please Lord. Bind up every wicked power and spirit that is empowering them, in Jesus Name.

We pray for those who are on the scene. Give them wisdom to think and pray and act like Christians ought.

We pray that You would move mightily today by Your Spirit to stir the churches all across this land to pray and speak boldly for what is right.

Let this be the beginning of a mighty move of Your Hand to remind us all of our dependence only on You--for in America, we truly still have no King but Jesus. Rekindle the respect of the American people for the value of each and every individual that You created in Your glorious image....born and unborn, Lord.

We offer up praise to You right now Father, for the mighty work that You are doing today. Give us eyes to see it, so we can be careful to give You all the praise, all the honor, and all the glory---for only You are Worthy.

In the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.

Amen.

St. Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle. Be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray and do thou, oh Prince of the Heavenly Hosts, by the Power of God, cast into hell satan, and all his evil spirits who prowl about the world seeking the ruin of souls.
Amen.

Untouchable Riches

Joy comes in the morning
At the break of day
Driving out the darkness
As you kneel and pray

Come into His Presence
Come before His Throne
Come into the Light
This earth is not your home

The seas may rage in anger
The mountains all fall down
But men can't steal your joy
Or touch your heavenly crown

He could have called ten thousand angels
to destroy the world and set us free,
He could have called ten thousand angels
but He died alone for you and me.

God bless Terri and her family.

Blessed Mother Teresa, you held the dying in your arms and eased their pain, seeing Christ in them. Hold now Terri in your prayers before that same Christ. Seek her comfort in her torments; ask that we all see in this unlawful killing a sign of the torments that await us if we remain silent members of a culture of death.
