Sounds like this Furedi guy is a whining Leftist. He's correct in his blasting of the Left's current lunacy. However, the quotes above show that his real purpose is promotion of social engineering and socialism. In other words, he wants to get out of this therapy mess by having huge government programs to accomplish things. IMHO, I'd rather be fighting against a defeatist Left than an aggressive, expansionist Left.

The Left has always been all about defeatism, as far as I can tell. The Right, on the other hand, has always embodied optimism. "Give me liberty or give me death" was declared with a confidence in achieving liberty, not death.

Let the lefties revel in their cynical defeatism all they want. They'll get what they believe in.
