The Street administration has told city workers not to report "mere undocumented aliens" to federal agents or deny immigrants any services such as health care or education.

City Solicitor Nelson A. Diaz, in a memorandum dated Oct. 10, puts Philadelphia among a handful of cities - including New York - that formally refuse to help the federal government pursue ordinary illegal immigrants.

Are you just going to take this in Philadelphia? Well, here is an idea.

1 - Someone needs to find some disgruntled city employees who don't like their jobs and don't care whether they are fired.
2 - Those employees need to seek out info on illegal aliens and report the info to the INS.
3 - The info needs to be disseminated to force the city's hand so the city will fire them.

When the city fires the employees for reporting to a federal agency a federal crime -- illegally entering and staying in U.S. territory-- there is a major league lawsuit. Or, you in Philadelphia, just like so many cities, can sit back and watch your tax dollars sucked into a black hole thanks to a neighbor that is exporting its poverty for this nation to solve.

Yes, Los Angeles is a safe haven for illegals. Those who rent but favor allowing this invasion should never be allowed to complain about high rent. Rents would be substantially lower (that old supply and demand thing) without the huge number of illegal occupants.

You got that right! I've been looking for an apartment in LA area. For a basic little crackerbox, it's $900. For an apartment in any kind of semi-illegal alien free area, it's $1,000-$1,4000 for a one-bedroom. Illegals get around this by crowding lots of people into one apartment, but most Americans don't want to live that way. So we're stuck. I know lots of people in their 30s and 40s who are moving back in with their parents or their parents are helping them with rent.

Therefore, a ballsy prosecuter or district attorney needs to file criminal charges against those individuals who are promulgating this policy. A concurrent civil suit brought against them perhaps as a class action might also be filed on behalf of the citizens of Philly. Hard ball. It's the only language they understand.

I completely agree. I'm for a moratorium on all immigration, even legal immigration, for a period of time until we can absorb and assimilate the massive amount of people we've taken in in recent years.

This is such an outrage; the state and local zipperheads have been a source of angst for a long time on this issue.

I frankly place more blame on them AND the employers than the Feds for one simple reason: becasue without this welcome mat and safe haven BS, the illegals wouldn't have anything worth staying for in the first place. The lack of Federal troops on the borders would be moot. Just my opinion but I think a valid one.
