[history]
The latest quarterly FReepathon was a success and is over now. However, these events are a pain in the butt for those that run and operate them and for two to three weeks they dominate the sidebar and each thread. It is time we work to eliminate them once and for all.
Monthly Donations!
Many FReepers of good will are signed up for a monthly donation to FR as opposed to making a quarterly contribution. There are advantages to this system for both the site and the donor. FR can operate on a sounder fiscal basis by having money coming in monthly and as a donor you can spread your contributions out in smaller increments over an entire year.
Currently FR gets about 7k in monthly revenue. If we could get this up to 25k, there would be no need for the FReepathons. You can sign up for a painless $5-$10 a month (more if you are inclined, several people are at $50-$100!), which would be processed through a secure server by Jim and his family. Plus, running bulk CC donations on a monthly basis is less expensive than using PayPal. Even if you can only afford $2-$3, it would be a tremendous help!
It's time we help put FR onto a more secure and professional revenue plan! Please, bump this thread and use your ping lists to encourage your friends and family to GO MONTHLY!
We need to get 1800 FReepers who would be willing to donate an average of $10 once a month!

You may give it out to anyone you choose, or even have Free Republic "business cards" printed including your screen name and Free Republic email address.
But if you do use this feature there is a danger of inadvertantly sending out your real email address unless you change your email address parameter in your browser or email program's properties or preferences list to reflect your freerepublic.com address.
Thanks,
Jim

A monthly pledge becomes very easy once we decide to do it.
I suggest to people to start out with an amount that they can afford like $5, $10 or $15 per month. There are many ways to find that money with the loose change, the 17 cents per day or cancelling your local daily fish wrap, to the suggestions you made.
Once the monthly pledge to FR becomes a regular habit, it becomes part of our monthly routine until we decide to increase it.
I never watch ABCNNBCBS phoney news and Newsweak, Slime and any other phoney weekly news doesn't darken our door.
So my $/day buys me a lot of news, insight and great freeper opinions.
A monthly pledge is a do able when Freepers decide to do it.

Okay.....$20/month it is. I will be mailing it in. Where are my mugs? (That's what did it, you know.)

What email program do you use? I have Outlook and I have several email addresses (work, personal, FR) and have configured each separate account to deliver and send email from my main inbox. Is that what you are trying to do?

That's what I'm trying to do, although I have Outlook Express.
It already receives email from two different addresses (not counting the FR address), but I only have one return address, which always shows when I reply to any email. I'm not sure whether I can segregate them to reply separately.

Can I just buy a Freeper Java mug without the monthly ? I'm a caffeine junkie in case you didn't know ...

There must be a way to do what you're trying to do, but I don't know about OE. Try changing the reply to email address in the properties for your FR account and test it.

Thanks, but no thanks.........I like your dogs though. I can tell by the picture that you really care for them. I have two, a beautiful, sweet Siberian Husky and a really obnoxious Weimaraner. Maybe I should put their pictures on my profile page, if I ever get around to doing one. We, too, have tons of wildlife that roam our property (but gave up hunting years ago)....lots of white tail and mule deer, black bear, coyotes, wolves, and wild turkeys. I have nothing against hunting for sport or food.....but at our age we enjoy watching them more than shooting them.
All this off topic and pointless chit-chat is just my way of bumping this topic back to the top.
C'mon, guys, we need more monthly donors. I get far more news for far less money on Free Republic than any newspaper, news magazine, or news channel.
I eagerly await my mugs.

Since "joe" is another name for java or coffee, maybe we could put a lable on the side of the mug that reads "GoodJoe"?
And does the mug lean to the right?

And does the mug lean to the right? Neither. But if you turn your back on it, it will try to overthrow you.

OMG - the vanity FReepmail is insanely cool. Just enabled it. I'm gonna give the addy to a couple liberal friends - it'll drive 'em nuts! "FreeRepublic.com" appearing in their address books? Woohoo!!

If you are using Outlook Express, when you open a new email or when you hit REPLY, look in the FROM box; there is an arrow there where you can pick which email address you want to use.

I have an automatic payment set up. So I don't need a email reminder. I get a post card thanking me for the donation. I appreciate the thought, but I would think the postage, the card, and time (it is handwritten, could all be better used for something else.
To: Rushmore Rocks
We will begin designing and producing them in time to be sent out for XMAS. People have until 12-1 to sign up!
