Yep, they're now whining because President Bush is going around them since they can't manage to tell the truth about the situation in Iraq. Poor Babies!!!!
"Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2003 10:23 a.m. EDT Big Media: Bush Has Declared War on Us
Now that President Bush has finally called the big media's bluff on its bad-news-only Iraq war coverage, mainstream reporters are squealing like stuck pigs.
CBS's John Roberts sounded particularly overwrought the other night, complaining that Bush's decision to circumvent the networks and tell the Iraq story to local TV affiliates amounted to a declaration of "war."
"It was the public relations equivalent of a declaration of war aimed at the national media, President Bush claiming the American people aren't getting the truth about Iraq," Roberts announced, according to quotes picked up by the Media Research Center.
The CBS'er griped that Bush chose local reporters because "the White House feels [they] will go easier on the president."
Perhaps. But maybe if the big media stopped ignoring important stories that don't comport with their political agenda, the president wouldn't be compelled to do an end run around their reporters. And we're not just talking about news of the U.S.'s successful rebuilding effort in Iraq.
Remember how furious the press was when a Washington Post poll found that 69 percent of Americans believed that Iraq played a role in 9/11? Journalists spent weeks insisting that the great unwashed had fallen for a full-blown White House con job seeking to foster the 9/11 "myth."
But rather than tell the whole story, the big media kept its lip zipped about Iraqi defectors who described an airplane-hijacking training facility in South Baghdad that offered instruction to radical Islamists on how to overcome flight crews using techniques that bore an eerie resemblance to those employed on 9/11.
And when, based in part on that testimony, Manhattan U.S. District Judge Harold Baer ruled last May that Iraq had indeed play a role in 9/11, Peter Jennings, Tom Brokaw and Dan Rather remained equally silent.
Two months later, when U.S. weapons inspectors found a significant contingent of the Iraqi air force buried beneath the sand near Baghdad, the press sat on that story, too.
"Now that President Bush has finally shown that he's got the big media's number, here's hoping he sticks to his guns and continues to favor press outlets where his administration - and America - have a reasonable chance of getting a fair shake."

What makes the big media think they OWN the president? If the president wants to talk to us, and the media forbids it, the only alternative he has is to come to the media closest to us. There's still a lot of the good guys in the local media (excluding Phoenix, we've only got the Arizona Republic )

Good! The rest of us declared on SEEBS a long time ago!

I hope President Bush, and the rest of America
have not forgotten what Fox News did election night 2000.
If you recall they were the 1st network to release the false VNS polls
BEFORE the 2nd time zone in FL finished voting.
In the recent CA recall elections they were running stories
how if Arnie won the dims would challenge the results.
That "story" was also run BEFORE CA polls were closed.
Fox News has lots of excellent reporters
BUT one has to wonder about the people who actually control what the network does.

Actually ABCNNBCBS declared war on our president before he was sworn in. Since then they have lied 24/7/365 in an attempt to electronically lynch him.
So most conservatives have declared war on ABCNNBCBS's phoney news departments. We don't tune in to their lies nor do we tolerate them.

Why not just let Stars and Stripes do all the reporting for a good picture from the front?
Troops coming back are giving a much better picture than the liberal media.
Does this surprise ANYONE?

ABCNNBCBS were fasting and praying that they could get a big toe in the door with the "who leaked the spy's cover" story.
They haven't changed since the days they protected Soviet spies.

Nope, no surprise here! Don't watch these networks either. Saw it on Newsmax and I'm just enjoying their pain and outrage at being caught in their own game and outsmarted by George W. (Big Smile)

About time. What took so long? Why are conservative politicians perpetually caught off guard by slanted press treatment. The playing field is slanted by the national media. Learn it, live it, love it. But every move by your opponent opens up a window of vulnerability. Stop whining and exploit it. And don't apologize for exploiting it either.

Koppel and his boys were whining the same whine tonight. They can't get to the good news because every time they try, another bombing happens or more troops get killed. Uh huh.

"Arizona Repugnant"?I prefer Arizona Repugnant. A lot of "local" media just follow the line of the OldDomiantLiaberalMedia. The major advantage of the local media is that their reporters are younger, and haven't been selected for their liberal worldview yet. Some of them still have a little bit of an open mind.
To: ShuShu
It was the public relations equivalent of a declaration of war aimed at the national media,... Hmmm..support the President or the media...now let me think-----
To: Happy2BMe
Why not just let Stars and Stripes do all the reporting for a good picture from the front? Your joking I'm sure. Those of us who've payed close attention to that rag have been calling it Stars and Lies for as long as I can remember. I say this from experience after spending 16 of my 20 years overseas where a large portion of that time all we had was that paper and USA Today. Thank the Lord that our boys have satellite news and the Internet now. Just my opinion....
