Speaking of Didrickson and the area GOP efforts, I saw NO Fitzgerald signs around here (northern Crook County - Northbrook, Northfield, Glenview, Glencoe, Winnetka) and chalked it up to the lazy GOP organizations at the grass roots around here. It's like every person for him/herself, I guess. I figured it was wasting my time to try to light a fire under these people, so I visited the Fitzgerald campaign office in Palatine myself and threw my hat in the ring. Told 'em they could have 48 hours of my life :-) (this is all I could realistically give as a wife and full-time mom employed out of the home). I put signs up near every precinct on the list in the surrounding suburbs and I got pollwatcher credentials out of the Fitzgerald campaign and shut down several instances of Democrap electioneering on Election Day. I'd like to think my efforts played a small part in Fitzgerald succeeding in the polling places around here.

Exactly. Conservatives need to work harder to convince liberals and Democrats that Republicans aren't going to take away their "choice." In addition, conservatives have to stop making abortion the No. 1 issue. This applies mostly in liberal to moderate states like Illinois. There is no other way for a conservative to get elected.

Keep in mind that McCain's primary campaign was more or less finished already.
