An Arab American student who attended Ridgefield High School in northern New Jersey has filed a lawsuit against a teacher he claims used the word “terrorist” in response to a question about a class assignment.
Mohammed Zubi, a practicing Muslim of Palestinian origin, states in court papers he was working with fellow students on Oct. 10, 2021 when he asked his teacher for more time to finish the assignment.
“We don’t negotiate with terrorists,” the teacher allegedly said “in a loud voice” so that others could hear, states the lawsuit, filed Oct. 17 in Superior Court of Bergen County.

We might chuckle about that remark here, as a bunch of adults, but when you’re in high school and a teacher says that, I’m sure it was embarrassing for the student.
If your family has acclimated and become more American, that’s exactly what you don’t want people thinking when they meet you. The young man wisely waited until he had left that school so as to avoid any possible retailiation from that teacher.

In high school (1960s) my humanities teacher said that I was “culturally impoverished”. He spoke the truth and I was not emotionally scarred for hearing it. LOL

I had an older Jr high school teacher some kind of English humanity’s I think.
Anyway she hated interruptions of any kind, she would not enter the classroom until 2 minutes after the bell rang, and we all had to stand when she entered.
If you entered class after that she would make you sit in the hall for the rest of the period.
One day a freshman girl from the office came in during her lecture with some kind of note.
There was a quiet collective intake of breaths.
The teacher in a loud projecting voice said
“God Hates You. GET OUT”
Poor girl burst into tears and ran out.
We had a sub for a week or two after that
