Trump accuses Nancy Pelosi of coronavirus witch hunt: ‘This is not the time for politics’

President Trump on Thursday denounced “partisan investigations” and political witch hunts during the coronavirus pandemic shortly after House Speaker Nancy Pelosi announced the creation of a new select House committee to probe the government’s response.

The story: Pelosi named House Majority Whip Rep. James Clyburn (D-SC) to chair the committee, whose goal is to “examine all aspects of the federal response to the coronavirus and ensure the taxpayer’s dollars are being wisely and efficiently spent.” The special panel will also have the authority to issue subpoenas.

My understanding is this authority was specifically written into the last Porkulus bill. I would think it would behoove our side to take 24 hours, at the minium, before voting on and passing these things. Same for the White House before signing.

Even if, for sake or argument, someone thinks we need a “9/11 commission” type of investigation, is now the time for that?

Can you imagine if the actual 9/11 commission had been at work while the buildings were still smoldering at Ground Zero??? That’s analogous to where we are now with the virus, as we don’t know when we are going to emerge from this emergency.
