so Trump needs to mobilize not just his base but also try to poach votes from the Dems.

15% of the audience of his recent rallies were registered democrats.

That is a good sign, especially if concentrated in the right states. In 2016, Trump appealed to rural Democrats in the North and Midwest and breached the supposed Democratic "Blue Wall." Trump's entrepreneurial instincts made him recognize and seize an opportunity that most experts thought a fantasy.

I am sure that the democrats in charge are aware of this, but the rank and file democrats are oblivious. They are convinced that what they need to win is a far left socialist candidate that will excite the democrat base to go out and vote.

What they are ignoring are the millions of middle class and blue collar democrats in flyover country, many of whom voted for Trump in 2016. These voters are far more interested in the fact that unemployment is now down to historically low levels so they can get jobs and feed their families than they are interested in the rights of transvestites to use girls' restrooms or the rights of rich and upper middle class kids to study feminist studies and party for 6 years at taxpayer expense.
