House Democrats took their first concrete steps in the impeachment investigation of President Trump on Friday, issuing subpoenas demanding documents from Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and scheduling legal depositions for other State Department officials.
At the end of a stormy week of revelation and recrimination, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi framed the impeachment inquiry as a somber moment for a divided nation.
“This is no cause for any joy,” she said on MSNBC.
At the White House, a senior administration official confirmed a key detail from the unidentified CIA whistleblower who has accused Trump of abusing the power of his office. The official acknowledged that a record of the Trump phone call that is now at the center of the impeachment inquiry had been sealed away in a highly classified system at the direction of Trump’s National Security Council lawyers.

But it wasn't till the 25th that the Phone Call Transcript and Whistleblower complaint is released.
So all she had was media reports as of the 24th.

Some people wonder why the US loses so much tech to China and whoever else wants it, doesn't know what the Hell is actually going on in most of the world, and spews out stupid crap about what's possible or impossible for some country.
Right there is the reason, it's full of well heeled gossips who hang out with the wealthy clique wherever they go, send out contractors to do anything dangerous, and specialize in giving good memo rather than in actually finding out what's going on.
Trump needs to put Binny and McGovern in charge of the NSA and CIA with a mandate to day one reduce headcount by 50% then remove from the remaining 50% all the scum who don't believe in the Constitution and believe that they're the Praetorian Guard who have the right to choose who should be President.

A subpoena will do nothing.... if asks for documents. Since no articles of impeachment have been voted out of the house as a hole I predict the subpoenas will be laughed at. Fishing expeditions are not impeachment

‘Compromise’ is probably not the right word. I think the 400-odd Democrats in DC (House, Senate, etc) all sit in a vacuum....watching CNN and MSNBC, and reading the Post/Times...believe things will fall into place.
I have memory of the Iran-Contra Hearing, where a key moment occurred with Lt Col North walking in, and 48 hours later....the hearing was stalled and without value. All of that in a period without Twitter or the Internet.
I think three harsh realities will come out of the hearing and impeachment. First, Hunter Biden is probably going to jail, unless he overdoses or commits suicide. Second, VP Joe Biden will quietly exile himself to Delaware and never be seen in public again. Third, Trump emerges with voters more convinced than ever, and a massive House ‘flip’ will occur.
Nancy Pelosi will stand there and say it was all predictable and gaze at the clown circus characters as she retires.
