That is _exactly_ what happened to Hillary in 2016.
The polls assumed black turnout for Hillary would be the same as it was for Obama. They were wrong.
Older blacks will accept white liberals who keep the gravy train moving.
Younger blacks want black candidates and don't trust any white candidates.
