Trump, Cruz mend fences and try to save each other
CNN Politics ^ | September 20, 2018 | Betsy Klein

Donald Trump questioned his Christianity, insulted his wife's appearance, suggested his father was involved with President John F. Kennedy's assassination and nicknamed him Lyin' Ted.

Ted Cruz called Trump a "sniveling coward," a "pathological liar" and "utterly amoral."

It's all water under the bridge now, as Cruz fights to hold his Senate seat in deep-red Texas and the President struggles to keep a Republican majority in the Senate.

Trump has volunteered himself, as well as two of his most high-profile surrogates -- his children, Don Jr. and Ivanka -- to appear alongside the Texas senator as his re-election race tightens....

Very disappointed that Texans are dancing with a sorry socialist like Beto.

Ditto Florida. Gillum (gov. race) is even farther to the left than Betoboy.

Trump does NOT need Cruz help. What BS. I won’t criticize Cruz, per JR edict, but this is ridiculous. Trump didn’t go publicly begging for help. I’ve wondered at the public-ness of that request. Did Trump demand it?

“But in any campaign, responsibility starts at the top,” Mr. Cruz continued. “And when you have a campaign that disrespects the voters, when you have a campaign that affirmatively encourages violence, when you have a campaign that is facing allegations of physical violence against members of the press, you create an environment that only encourages this sort of nasty discourse.”

President Trump needs Cruz’s lawyerly skills to frame the Kavanaugh mess to benefit ‘pubs. Cruz needs to show TX that they’re better off with a US Senate that works with Trump. Together, they might be a win/win. Apart, there’s no one with a brain and an ounce of true conservatism to navigate through the US Senate. That’s a lose/lose.

Cruz is incredibly intelligent, but he is a NERD like me. That is not meant to be an insult, just an observation. Ted’s ground game to get the nomination was brilliant, and well thought out. But charisma TRUMPS NERD every time. I voted for Cruz because he was the smartest man in the race, just like I voted for Dr. Keys when he ran for nomination. I also voted for Trump, greatest President since Washington.

This thread needs to avoid arguments over supporting Cruz.

That’s CNN’s objective. If that’s not possible, this thread needs to be pulled.

Right now is the WRONG time to be debating this.

Either support President Trump AND Sen. Cruz, or keep your mouth shut.

Cruz needs ALL Trump supporters in Texas to vote for him even if your only reason is to help the president.

I have asked the Mods to remove any posts criticizing Cruz including the pro-Cruz ones that are quoting the negative comments.

Come on folks, use some common sense.
