Pro-Trump pastor: We support his policies but not extramarital affairs
The Hill ^ | August 28, 2018 | Aris Folley

Pastor Robert Jeffress said on Monday night that evangelical supporters of President Trump don’t support his alleged “extramarital affairs” but do support his “excellent policies.”

“I know a lot of people are still perplexed- why are Christians so supportive of Donald Trump?” Jeffress said during an appearance on Fox News. “Well, it’s really not that hard to figure out when you realize he is the most pro-life, pro-religious liberty, pro-conservative judiciary in history and that includes either Bush or Ronald Reagan.”

The pro-Trump pastor went on to say that is why he believes so many evangelicals remain committed to the president a week after his longtime lawyer, Michael Cohen, pleaded guilty to eight counts of bank fraud, tax fraud and campaign finance violations relating to payments he arranged for women who alleged to have had affairs with Trump in the months leading up to the election.

“We have to understand these are still allegations against the president, so I’m not going to judge the president on these things. But even if they were true, some of these allegations, I mean, obviously, we don’t support extramarital affairs, we don’t support hush money payments, but what we do support are these president’s excellent policies,” Jeffress said.

“And don’t be mistaking what is going on here. Those who hate President Trump, those on the left know that if they can dislodge his evangelical supporters from him, they have a shot at overtaking the White House,” Jeffress continued. “I think the left is trying to shame people like myself continuously for supporting this great president. It’s not going to work. We’re not going to turn away from him.”

Shortly after Cohen pleaded guilty last week, Trump's former campaign chairman, Paul Manafort, was also convicted on eight counts of bank and tax fraud charges brought by special counsel Robert Mueller.

Trump has since accused Cohen of making up stories to "get a 'deal'" and said in a tweet that he has "such respect" for Manafort because he did not "break" like Cohen by providing prosecutors with damaging information.

The White House also contended last week that Trump "did nothing wrong" in his dealings with Cohen and said there "are no charges against him."

Did I somehow sleep through a whole news cycle where President Trump's alleged infidelity was proven true beyond a shadow of a doubt? And if not, what are they talking about? Do Evangelicals assume that an accusation is true if the woman making it resembles the Samaritan woman at the well?

We’ve been lectured to for 25 years that ALL of BJ’s dalliances were “private, personal affairs” and not to be questioned, since BJ was so great.

Even if Trump is guilty, the “affairs” happened:

1. When he was a Democrat, and
2. Before he got saved at Billy Grahan’s birthday party.

My impression of Trump, even before he ran for President, was that he had made a commitment to Christianity after meeting and talking with Pastor Paula White several years ago. If that is true, then his extra marital activity, if true, most likely took place before that. We know, from reports, that Melania is a devout Christian with a very strong faith. Dr. Jeffress is exactly right about why Evangelicals support the President. The left is directly opposed to Christian values in almost everything. Most of them seem not to even believe in God.

If you know the Bible, you know that the great King David was certainly no saint.

Pro-Trump pastor: We support his policies but not extramarital affairs

Trump's policies are open to support or non-support by every American citizen. His supposed extra-marital affairs are none of my business - and none of any pastor's business.

From different stories I have read on president trump, and other various anecdotal tales, I really do think That at a point sometime within the last ten years, trump got saved.

There is too much a difference between the Trump of the 1990’s in New York (I lived and worked in Brooklyn and the news was all about Trump) and the Trump of the 2010’s.

Only God knows a mans heart, but there was a change and there was a new direction sometime around 2007-2008.

President Trump has never committed adultery!

So with all due respect, Pastor, please shut up.

Nonono!
Don't you know that if a republican does ONE wrong thing, you are supposed to despise everything about the man, everything he stands for and everyone even remotely associated with him.
The opposite for democrats.

God forgave King David for his murder and adultery. So far, President Trump is looking pretty good.
Keep in mind that the Left only insists that Republicans have no sins on their record. They can and do keep worshiping Bill Clinton, JFK and Ted Kennedy.

Possibly and only God knows... but there are signs that indicate the reality and veracity of an individual's conversion. https://www.whatchristianswanttoknow.com/7-signs-of-a-true-conversion/

Thanks be to God, all our many sins aren’t spoken of daily by the media (when last I looked, media finger-pointers have lots of dirty hands themselves!)

As in the case of homosexuals, we are taught to “hate the sin, love the sinner!”

Yet, when Bible believing Christians, especially evangelicals, are routinely trashed for espousing “holier than thou” attitudes, embrace “sinners,” we are trashed for reaching out to leaders, whose personal lives are anything but morally straight!

Christian conservatives can’t win for losing in the eyes of liberals: we are trashed for having values, yet when we refuse to “throw that first stone” at Trump, we are smeared for refusing to throw the bum out for being a sinner!

Would that same immoral media regularly slam liberal politicians whose personal and public lives are anything but moral, Bill Clinton, anyone?

“Trump never did commit adultery”.

Why do you think that?

I may be in a minority but I think it is really a possibility that Daniels and the Playboy model thing is false. For one thing, the payouts strike me as really low. So if there was an affair there is not much in the way of evidence to support it or it didn’t happen.

Secondly, the media has headlined unknown, non-credible liar after liar as long as they degrade the president. It is pretty obvious that this story, even if not true, netted these gals millions in free publicity.

Also, Trump is the most vetted leader in the history of the world. Every text, phonecall, message and email was scooped up and looked at by people under the gun to indict him, so it seems to me if this was a pattern it would be out there with more supporting evidence than there currently is.

Am I wrong in thinking this way? Please point out where I am going wrong here.

.........................

Please note!

I said President Trump. Prior to becoming president, it is possible that Donald Trump committed adultery. But there is no evidence, and God knows we would have heard about it, that since becoming president, he has done any such thing.

I think it is a very significant difference because I see significant signs that Donald Trump has turned to God and is a different man than he was prior to becoming president.

I only wish the good pastor conveyed the same thoughts and took advantage of an opportunity to convey what God can do in one’s life.

Those affairs OCCURRED before he was POTUS..in fact before he was even a candidate for that office..

Billy Boy Clinton, raped a woman or maybe it was women, before he became a Professional Politician and after, then he became a candidate and his ‘affairs’ continued..right thru his Presidency...but Ministers and media thought that was just SEX and a personal business.. As for Hussein O..we are still not sure of his sexual preference so media lets him alone...

Unbelievable anything should be said about DJT..He is working and doing it for FREE. So what about the Donald's right to privacy? hummm smh
