Sen. Dianne Feinstein booed at San Francisco event after saying she hopes Trump can change

SAN FRANCISCO — U.S. Sen. Dianne Feinstein was booed by some constituents Tuesday night when she said President Donald Trump could be a good president if he changed his approach to the job and brought the nation together.

“I just hope he has the ability to learn and change — and if he can he can be a good president,” she said at a Commonwealth Club forum at the historic Herbst Theater, surprising San Franciscans used to hearing their politicians decry Trump.

“Oh, come on!” a few people shouted. “No, no!” screamed others.

While Feinstein was welcomed with a standing ovation by the 800-some attendees — and got strong applause throughout the night as she talked about immigration, global warming and gun control — her failure to offer a blunt denunciation of Trump riled the crowd.

Unlike some of her California congressional colleagues — who have called for Trump to be removed from office and even questioned his mental sanity — Feinstein threw cold water on attempts to impeach Trump or otherwise kick him out of the White House before his term is up in January 2021.

“Look, this man is going to be president, most likely for the rest of this term,” she said. “I think we have to have some patience — it’s eight months into the tenure of the presidency.”

She declined to directly discuss impeaching Trump, noting that the Senate could conceivably serve as a jury in an impeachment trial.

Feinstein found plenty to criticize about Trump’s individual policies. Earlier in the evening, she called his decision to pardon former Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio “a stupid thing to do,” arguing that the pardon “sent a message to police departments … that racial profiling is OK.”(continued)

The leftists enjoy hating Trump and Trump supporters. They can hardly wait until the next “I hate Trump” parade.

Bothers me she said even that much.

I was happy when they were distracted with these contrived professional groups of aggrievement, Russia, etc.

I don’t want them to coalesce on anything reasoned or cogent.

Chaotic anger on their side is better for ours.

Dems know they have nothing on President Trump and they are trying to let down their nut base as gently as possible.

Is there a better example than California of what happens when you poison the nation with millions of illegals and low skilled legals? We get rule by leftist radicals.

During the Russian revolution the bolsheviks did not compromise and when Stalin became dictator, he even went after the bolsheviks. Perhaps Feinstein is realizing this. She could be on antifa’s long list.

The actual headline is that a (the?) senior Democrat on the Senate Intelligence Committee tried to tamp down her constituents’ expectation of impeachment. Sounds like there ain’t no there there.

I wonder if she knows something we don’t about President Trump’s plans. She is one of the highest ranking senators with a lot of influence regardless of what we think about her.

I keep thinking about that time her and Grassley came of out of meeting with both of them looking spooked; almost in shock. I wonder if something finally woke her up out of her delusions about the left.

I would have loved to have been a fly on the wall of that meeting...

The late Bill Hicks used to “joke” that they’d sit a new president down in the White House and show him a film of the Kennedy assassination from an angle no one had ever seen before.

Careful Diane. The RATs have gone over the edge into mass hysteria. If you don’t agree with them 1000 percent they may tear you limb from limb. Not that that would bother me.

A rare moment of lucidity? I think many Dem politicians understand they are now riding a tiger of their own creation and don’t know how to get off. Revolutions always eat their own.

I don’t like Feinstein because she is corrupt but she is one of the few sane democrats here in California.

I think she and a few in the leadership have realized that the party will self destruct if they allow organizations like Antifa and Black lives mater, control the discourse.

The leadership also is realizing that for the long-term they are going to be a minority party and if they want to have any sort of impact with the political discourse they are going to have to change the way they are behaving....

I don’t think many within the party have realized it but within the leadership this realization is going on. This last election left the leadership of both parties shell shocked because most of the nation rejected the leadership in Washington.

at the moment the democratic party leadership is adjusting to this but there constituents have not along with the more radicle elements of the party.

>> “Chaotic anger on their side is better for ours.” <<

You’ll not see that from DiFi. She knows better than to join such foolishness.

I used to consider this woman a friend; I’ve benefited from sound advice on local politics she has given.

Her rise to political significance rode over the ashes of three absolute fools.

Her - and any Dem/GOPe/RINO asking for Trump to change for the better is a like a fart telling the rose that it needs to stop smelling so sweet so folks can appreciate the fart.
