Democratic Senate candidate Rep. Beto ORourke received $2.1 million in donations in the second quarter for his campaign against incumbent Republican Sen. Ted Cruz, who raised $1.6 million from April to June.
Although O'Rourke raised more money in the second quarter, Cruz's campaign said in an email Thursday that the former Republican presidential candidate has $5.7 million cash on hand.
O'Rourke's bid is considered a long shot because reliably GOP Texas hasn't had a Democratic senator since 1994, and although he has raised funds quickly since announcing his candidacy, O'Rourke had only $535,000 in campaign funds at the end of March then one-tenth of Cruz's war chest.

Ping.
At best.
O’Rourke is another two-bit progressive.
No GOP primary challengers willing to step up yet?
Are Freepers supporting O’Rourke?
Are Freepers supporting O’Rourke?
Only if they like Obama Clones.
We would support a primary challenger, not a Democrat.
Cruz is safe. This would be a great race to encourage idiot Dems to pour money into.
lol he only has a quarter of money he raised last quarter on hand. He must be spending it almost as fast as it’s comming in. Winning!
Good for the economy
Local news media seemed to focus more on O’Rourke’s “punk rocker” background than on his avowedly far Left ideology.
I told you guys last year that that was a daydream. Why would the Texas Republicans want to primary the most conservative senator in the United States?
Let’s see... A burglar. A drunk. And former musician. Seems qualified to me. To be a Democrat pol !
LOL!
He may be OVER qualified!
Yep A big pile of money from San Francisco and nothing to show for it. It’s all good.
Not this one. If this campaign were occurring immediately after Cruz' night of infamy at the RNC, I might have given it some thought. Fortunately, Cruz pulled his head out and got on board.
Until the next election, we will be told that Cruz is in trouble. The polls will have him behind. There will be much wringing of hands and wailing. On election day, he will win by fifteen points or more. I support Trump, but Trump attacked Cruz without any basis and called him names during the last election. He also attacked Cruz’s wife. That simply was wrong.
