This is a really, really bad idea. Trump would be a lawyer’s worst nightmare; impossible to prepare. So impulsive; he says the first thing that comes into his mind. He would be walking straight into a perjury trap.
I really doubt that. He’s impulsive, but time has shown he’s impulsive with the truth.
I agree. They want a “gotcha” moment; and the way Trump speaks off the cuff, they’d try and find any small discrepancy with which to hang him.
Furthermore, the FBI is NOT a separate branch, and it does NOT have jurisdiction over its own nominal chief. It takes orders from the president, not vice-versa.
If anyone has trouble with that, there is always recourse to the House, which CAN investigate, and impeach.

He should offer to answer written questions. Beyond that, they can pound sand.
He should just deliver a sworn statement that no, he did not say “this or that,” to Comey, and that’s it.
No open ended questioning until they get lucky an ask him “have you stopped beating your wife” and he blurts out on impulse instead of realizing there’s no right answer. One question only... framed by his lawyer, about Comey’s claim.
You are absolutely right. No attorney would ever allow him to do that. He has a hostile IC (Mueller)breathing down his neck, an open friend of Comey. And everyone knows the truth can be twisted. It is no win for Trump to box himself in. It is also demeaning to the Presidency. Bush allowed FBI interviews in the White House. Trump should not do anything except STHU!
