Well, Cruz is on the way to being a hero.

Who would have thought that Sen Ted Cruz, R-Texas, would find the Gordian knot that will change the #Obamacare impasse from a grinding campaign to try to pass a repeal and replace bill that no one is entirely satisfied with? Constitutionalists who are paying attention, that's who. Who else would have found it? Mike Lee, perhaps. Maybe Rand Paul. Sasse? Nobody else is even looking -- and Ted is brilliant.

Use Rule XIX, the “two speeches” rule, and don’t adjourn.

You mean he was the first one to actually read the language in the bill? It is not that complicated.

Dayum, Ted!
Now that's why I voted to send you to Washington!
Good job!

Not to take anything away from Cruz, but I seem to remember an article here on FR a week or two ago that discussed the possibility of Pence overruling the Parliamentarian in just this way.

The GOPe RINO establishment in Congress despises Cruz because he will not “go along to get along” with them and regularly exposes their hypocracy & duplicity by pointing out how to get done the things they say are impossible to do. And that is why American Patriots like him.
Ted wants to embarrass them into doing the right things.

Sounds great in theory. I wonder what the genesis of the whole idea of granting the VP such power was? There must have been a reason..

Who put the Parlimentarian in place? Why is that not an elected position? One unelected retard runs the country?

All they have to do is not go wobbly and stick together.
That is our greatest obstacle to success. It has been for years and I don't count on Ryan growing a spine any time soon. But given the choice of standing with Cruz or Ryan, Cruz wins easily. And I say that as a Wisconsinite.

Mitch could also dismiss the Parliamentarian and appoint a Republican - it’s within the rules - the current guy was appointed by Dingy Harry but Mitch just doesnt have it in him.
