President Donald Trump had a busy schedule Wednesday but stayed out of the public eye and kept his tweets to a minimum.
Press secretary Sean Spicer emphasized Trumps support for the House Republicans bill to repeal the Affordable Care Act. Tonight, the president and first lady dined with Sen. Ted Cruz, his wife Heidi, and their two daughters. And Jon Huntsman may be the next ambassador to Russia.
Heres what you need to know.
Highlight of the day
Trump spent most of the day in private meetings. In the morning, he met with education activist Laurene Powell Jobs, who is Steve Jobs widow. White House officials said they discussed education and immigration issues.
Later in the day, Trump met with Rep. Elijah Cummings, D-Md., to discuss prescription drug prices. Last month, Trump told reporters that Cummings had cancelled a meeting with the administration and speculated that Cummings might have been pressured to do so by Democratic leadership....

Yeah but, wasn’t that before Trump actually took up residence in the White House?
Huntsman bothers me
After dinner they watched the new episode of Designated Survivor.
“Ted, that would be me,” said President Trump.
“What, dying in that horrible attack?”
“No, staying back at the White House, Ted. Just me and my loyal staff, no more government at all.”
“How would that be any different, Donald?”
“Less chirping. Hopefully the media would be there in huge numbers to cover the event. I mean, before the blast.”
“That’s harsh Donald.”
“Yep. You’d be part of that mushroom cloud, Ted. Just sayin.”
“That’s ultra harsh. Still, beats being a lawyer in Calgary, Ted.”
Nothing is stopping him now, is there?
I can't wait to hear the leaked CIA audio tapes from that meeting.
Awesome dialog!
“Hey, Lyin’ Ted. You’ve got to try some of this veal. It’s much better than the stuff you guys get up in Canada.”
(can you even imagine if something crazy like that went down...)
Expecting this tweet later ...
“Had dinner with Ted Cruz and Heidi. Not so bad. We paused to look at JFK picture. Couldn’t really tell. Maybe I was wr .. wr .. can’t say it.”
The terms are “barrister” and “solicitor” if my memory serves.
No LOL, but then again he has only been there, in the White House, 48 days. Besides he really was hard on Cruz, not that I minded by that time, so he may be trying to get them back to where they were early on in the campaign. Perhaps he wants Romney to come groveling back to him one more time just for grins & giggles. 8>)
Huntsman bothers me
Me, too.
(That’s all I have to comment about, on this thread :)
Think of it this way, Huntsman is three quarters of the way to Siberia now.
I’ve been expecting Sen. Maj. Leader for Cruz. DJT gave McC every opportunity to show newfound enthusiasm, and he failed.
I think he possibly bothers Trump, and certainly bothers Willard, aka Mittens Romney, given it’s been reported that both were interested in filling the Senate seat being vacated by Orin Hatch (R-UT). Maybe during that dinner together, Romney could have asked the then President-elect for a big favor. Moscow, Russia is a long way away from Utah. Also when I think about this appointment, I think about President Andy Jackson who appointed (nee banished) the hated James Buchanan as punishment, to be American Ambassador to the Romanov Court (Nicholas I )in St. Petersburg, Russia.
“Ted, sorry for the Heidi comment. I had to make it look good.” “I understand Mr. President” (Both laugh) “Ted, after we get Gorsuch on the bench, as my thanks to you for being such a good sport, you have the next SCOTUS appointment.” “I wouldn’t have it any other way Mr. president and sorry for the comments about Chicago. I owed a favor to O’Reilly. He needed the ratings, Megyn was killing him.” (Both laugh)
I don’t like this Huntsman stuff either and a few others as well. This is NOT “business” and I’m beginning to wonder what the president is up to with some of these things.
Huntsman bothers me
“Romney he hosted by himself at a restaurant...”
Rebus was there too.
Trump as Fonzie.
