Suggesting that turnabout is fair play, the Senate's new top Democrat said Tuesday night "it's hard for me to imagine" Democratic senators' supporting a Supreme Court nomination submitted by President-elect Donald Trump.
In a measured but blunt interview on MSNBC's "The Rachel Maddow Show," Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer of New York took on Trump over a number of issues, calling him a "fake" populist who was "dumb" to continue squabbling with the U.S. intelligence community.
But it was the vacancy on the Supreme Court created by the death of Justice Antonin Scalia in February that led to Schumer's strongest challenge to the president-elect.
Senate Republicans blocked President Barack Obama's March 16 nomination of U.S. Appeals Judge Merrick Garland for more than nine months — more than twice as long as any other nomination to the court has gone without a vote. Garland's nomination expired Tuesday as the new 115th Congress was sworn in.
"The consequences are going to be down the road," Schumer said. "If they don't appoint somebody good, we're going to oppose them tooth and nail."
Asked by Maddow whether he would seek to simply keep the seat open rather than confirm a nominee outside the mainstream, Schumer replied: "Absolutely."(continued)

There’s nothing in the consitution that says that there has to be a filibuster. There’s merely rules which the senate can change. Of course there’s a bunch of leftist republicans so trump is going to have to apply pressure.
I hope the Sessions DoJ will be looking into the bizarre, Satanic place where Scalia died. Statues of demons all over the place. And why was Scalia found fully dressed, with a pillow over his face? Looks like a murder, and a message: “We just murdered this guy, and we are so powerful we want you to know it, so you can be broken and demoralized further by our power.”

He was at a gathering of the International Order of St. Hubertus (St Hubert) which is a hunting club founded in Vienna in the year 1600. The members wear dark green monks robes for dinner with crosses on the front for a special diner once or twice a year. It is a Roman Catholic fraternal organization for hunters. the motto is “Deum Diligite Animalia Diligentes,” which means “Honoring God by honoring His creatures,”
There is nothing Satanic about the group.
That doesn’t mean his death was not strange and poorly investigated
Chuckles probably thought he’d be the next SCOTUS nominee a couple of months ago. Big change of fortune for him when Hilly lost.
