The Devil and the Deep Blue Sea
The Chrishanger ^ | August 7, 2016 | Chris Hanger

The RNC, the Republican Party elite, is currently dealing with the consequences of its own stupidity (which I would have used as the title, if I hadn’t used it before.)

Their hatred for Donald Trump is not based on ideology, personality or even a genuine concern that Trump is the reincarnation of Adolf Hitler. It is the far more understandable sense that Trump’s success has rendered them irrelevant, that Trump has literally stolen the Republican Party from under their noses. And that is precisely what Trump has done. They are caught between a number of options, all bad for them personally even if they are not bad for the Republican Party.

Trump, like it or not, is now the Republican Nominee for President. I do not believe that the RNC can remove him, at least not legally; I rather doubt Trump can be pushed into resigning from the race, not when he has stood firm and beaten some of the most powerful republicans in the country. As a current meme has it, Hillary Clinton had to cheat to beat an unelectable socialist (and even then she barely succeeded); Trump crushed his opponents and made himself unchallengeable.

And so the RNC is caught in a dilemma of its own making.

Not my blog, and I do not know if the guy's last name is really "Hanger," but like the way he sums up how the GOP has stepped in it over the past 8 years or more.

The GOP sold their souls to the Cheap Labor Express.
Their voters have been clamoring for border security and deportations while they have done everything they could to block those things.
Trump did steal their voters, because they had been blocking the citizens from doing anythting to stop the illegal alien inundation.
Somebody had to represent the 65% of the population that wants to keep the rule of law and our country.

I imagine there’s envy in there. And anti New Yorker bigotry.

And yet, would Trump make a good president?

... Trump is an aggressive fighter whose instinctive approach to challenges is to hit back. That plays well with his base because they’ve wanted a fighter for the last two decades. But when it comes to building a working government, it isn’t such a great strength.

Yet he somehow builds successful, working companies. Is it too much to expect that he would govern much like he has managed his companies?

even a genuine concern that Trump is the reincarnation of Adolf Hitler. How stupid of a comment is this? They dont like him because they are in bed with the criminal rats and have money invested

At this point I am not so much interested in building up a successful government as I am in prosecuting those who are intent on subverting the Constitution.

Hillary and Bill, Michelle and Barry didn’t commit their crimes in a vacuum. It required the cooperation of both parties and all relevant justice and law enforcement agencies.

Actually, the author’s name is Christopher G. Nuttall, and he’s a Brit. He’s also an excellent AND prolific author of SF and Fantasy. Additionally, he has unusually deep insight into politics in both Britain and America.

I can’t recommend his books enough. Plus, when you read the first few books of his “The Empire’s Corps”, you realize that WE, right here and now, are the model for his Galactic Empire. . .

“They don’t like him because they are in bed ...”

Also, he knocked off about 16 of his boys (and a girl) like bowling pins in the primaries. In truth it was voters that knocked them off. He made his case to them, the others made their cases.

Most RNC members, both conservatives and moderates, play by an unwritten set of rules. Most important rule:

Whose Turn is it?

In 88 it was GHWBs turn. In 96 it was Dole’s turn. In 00 GHWB told everyone it was his son’s turn. In 08 it was McCains turn. In 12 it was Romneys turn.

In 2016 it was not Trumps turn.

“Plus, when you read the first few books of his “The Empire’s Corps”, you realize that WE, right here and now, are the model for his Galactic Empire. . .”

Wouldn’t be the first time us contemporary Americans acted as a template for a Galactic Empire. George Lucas did that with the Empire from Star Wars as well, and the Rebels he modeled after the Vietcong. Though in Lucas’ case, he did it more to demonize our involvement in Vietnam, while, if I read your post about Nuttall correctly, he portrayed his Empire in a positive light.

Nutall actually argued that the Elites of the Empire killed it with their own greed and lust for power.

Sounds AWFULLY familiar. . .

Oh...

Well, at least Nutall had fair criticism against America there regarding that, unlike with Lucas, where he literally wanted to act as cheerleader for the Vietcong.
