Hillary Clinton's quiet supporters explain why they're with her

Loving Hillary Clinton has rarely been popular - when she was first lady she was widely criticised for being too liberal, for refusing to bake cookies or drop her maiden name.

Now, she's under fire for being too establishment, too untrustworthy and not progressive enough - and her hair, clothes, and lack of charisma have always been targets.

She's had peaks of high ratings - as secretary of state, her approval rating was at 65%, and she's been voted the most admired woman in the world 20 times. But as soon as she runs for office, those numbers drop.

Throughout this campaign, the media has talked about an "enthusiasm gap" for Mrs Clinton - the idea that those voting for her only do so grudgingly.

A scandal over her use of a private email account as secretary of state has further dented her popularity and heightened perceptions that she cannot be trusted....

They need to go back to being quiet, because when they do not open their mouths, no one cal tell how stupid they really are. That’s gone forever now.

Loving Hillary Clinton has rarely been popular - when she was first lady she was widely criticised for being too liberal, for refusing to bake cookies or drop her maiden name.

That was Hillary's own line. Nobody actually used it against her.

She's had peaks of high ratings - as secretary of state, her approval rating was at 65%, and she's been voted the most admired woman in the world 20 times. But as soon as she runs for office, those numbers drop.

They didn't ask everybody in the world, or even a sample of people from all over the world. The reference is to the Gallup Poll and the US First Lady almost always wins that vote. It doesn't mean she's loved -- or even really admired. It's about name recognition.

On the other hand, Michelle Obama lost that poll numerous times to Hillary Clinton, so Hillary must have a constituency out there somewhere (or else Michelle just isn't that popular).

I bucked tradition and actually read the article. So, why do these folks, who are all Clinton delegates, quietly support Hillary?

One woman has loved Hillary since the woman was 8 and her mama thought Hillary should be President instead of Bill.

The four or so others mentioned are all gay. It was obvious that they support Hillary only because she is pro-GLBT whatever, and herself a pseudo-bi Lesbian. I should quit being surprised by the shallow egocentrism of identity politics.

The article was about the faintest praise for a candidate I have ever read.

“lack of charism” Huh? Try totally repugnant personality without any charm. If you don’t mind being belittled and looked down on, she’s your perfect drinking partner as long as you don’t mind carrying her out and cleaning up her puke.

Anytime the media uses the “quiet” adjective, bend over.
