CLEVELAND, Ohio (WABC) -- In one of the night's most impassioned speeches, former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani bemoaned racial divisions that he said have only gotten worse.

"What happened to 'there's no black America, there's no white America, there is just America?'" he said. A longtime friend of Donald Trump's, Giuliani also vigorously defended the candidate's character, saying he was "sick and tired of the defamation of Donald Trump by the media and the Clinton campaign."

He gotten the biggest cheers of the night from the crowd of more than 2,000 delegates....

Guliani was great. The whole lineup was great. That was the best orchestrated series of speeches I’ve ever heard. The whole evening was awash with eloquence from average citizens to political powerhouses. No grandstanding, no flubs. . . the only thing more evident was heartfelt truth. Nice evening.

Short clips of Guiliani’s speech can be used as devastating ads targeting Hillary. He didn’t mince words.

I thought Rudy praise was grounds for ZOTting at FR.

Rudy has always been popular on this forum. I have been a fan of his before 911. NYC used to be like Arkham Asylumn from Batman before Giuliani.

America’s mayor was on fire tonight!
Best speech of the night.
Hope Donald finds a place for him in his administration.

Admittedly, I haven’t seen a lot of Giuliani’s speeches, but, wow, that was the best one I’ve ever seen by far. It may have been the best political speech I’ve ever seen, period. IMO, it’ll garner votes for Trump in any quarter it’s seen - at the convention, in the general election, at a Hillary rally, you name it. Good job, Rudy!

Hillary Clinton will do to America what she did to Libya if elected president.

How old is he? He saved us in the 90s and even with deblahblahblah trying to ruin it, a lot of the good can still be seen.

He pulled us through 9/11.

But he’s gotta be getting up there no?

I wish he would run for mayor again and stay in office till has last days.

I worked in Manhattan 1974 through 1980. It was a PIT when I first moved there.

When I came back in 1983 for the first time, I was shocked at how clean and safe it had become under Rudy’s tenure.

From what I hear today, there has been some back sliding under the last 2 administrations - both liberal.

Hillary Clinton will do to America what she did to Chris Stevens and without a moment’s pause as long as she gets a Clinton Crime Foundation donation for whatever is being asked for.

Up to and including allowing our military to be thrown away in whatever little manipulations she deems necessary to bring more income to her coffers.

You think the Benghazi Heros were something to be concerned about? Just wait until she sacrifices large swathes of our military forces for whatever whim she fancies at the moment, and as POTUS (and after JugEars’s examples) no one will dare attempt to go against her decrees.

We are on the brink of the destruction of our beloved nation with her continued acceptance by so many as being somehow worthy of the Presidency... if we have not already stepped irretrievably beyond it.

A republic... if we can keep it. Which I fear is already gone...

Thank you, DOJ and FBI. We needed the final nails after all, it would appear. (/sarc)

Getting rid of the liberal soft on crime judges would make it much longer lasting.

He was the best mayor...had to clean up after Mayor Dinkins made it the highest crime rate of any city....I remember watching Mathews one night and even he had praise for Rudy and expecially cleaning up Time Square. He is pro choice and thats why many on the forum don’t like him, but he is not running for anything now so that should not be in play. Attorney General would fit him great...

Not in 2016!

OTOH, words against Rudy, when he was praising Trump, certainly are ZOT worthy; so watch it!

Rapes doubled in 2014. Other crime numbers are being suppressed by order of the mayor for now.
