His policy positions are consistent with Conservatism, but then he brings teddy bears to the border.
I trust his actions on conservative issues as much as I trust a Bush.
You might be right, time will tell.
I have no serious problems with Cruz in terms of character or integrity. Attacking his rivals in an election is standard practice, and I'm not going to hold that against him. I would not hold it against a baseball player if he accused the opposing team of being a "bunch of bums" when they are all multi-millionaires. That's standard practice for how athletes and politicians talk during competition.
I have a problem with a very small number of votes cast by Cruz, including his vote for Fast Track authority. I don't know whether his reasoning was that he would want that authority if he won the election and the vote was going to pass through deals otherwise, whether he was pressured to vote that way in return for something promised that we don't know about, or why he cast that vote. Regardless of why he did it, it bothers me. Overall though, it is very hard to find Cruz votes that do bother me. That's an exceptionally good record.
