Ted Cruz solicits donations to pay off Scott Walker's campaign debt

They were rivals on the campaign trail, but now Sen. Ted Cruz is trying to help Gov. Scott Walker pay off the debt he accumulated during his failed presidential bid.

The Texas senator took to Twitter on Sunday to urge his followers to donate money to help retire Walker's lingering 2016 campaign debts.

"I stand with my friend @Scott Walker & hope you will too!" Cruz tweeted to his "#CruzCrew."

Cruz then linked to a donation page for Walker's campaign.

"Your contribution of $10, $35, $50, $100, $250, or more right now will help us pay down this campaign debt and officially close the books on our 2016 campaign," the website reads. "And if you contribute $30 or more in the next three days, we will send you a limited edition lapel pin."

The pin features the logo for Walker's presidential campaign, which he ended on Sept. 21 in the face of dwindling funds and dropping poll numbers.

After dropping out of the race, the Wisconsin governor has been soliciting contributions to pay off an estimated $1 million in debt.

Campaign finance reports released in October showed his short-lived campaign raised $7.4 million but spent money as quickly as it came. Those reports showed the campaign burned through about $90,000 a day, in part due to salaries paid to a large staff.

The governor's campaign manager made more than $50,000 for 71 days of work, while Walker's sons, Matt and Alex, drew nearly $10,000 in salary between them over those 10 weeks.

Contributions to Walker's campaign peaked in July with $2.4 million but dropped by 50% in August, the month when he was deemed to have given a tepid performance in the first GOP debate.

Walker has not yet made an endorsement in the 2016 Republican presidential race.

this isn’t directed at you, but I wish we would see more positive threads about a person’s candidate than negative threads about their enemy.

those are the ones that I like. jmho

Just another politician, bought and paid for. And, of course, we the people pay for it. Anybody that will donate to Walker deserves the government he gets. But I don’t.

Day by day, my respect for Cruz decreases. Now Cruz is full RINO (hiring Jeb’s staff, Lindsey’s endorsement and joining the attacks on Trump). Pretty soon, all my respect will be gone.

If Cruz and K-sick get totally smoked on Tuesday, they should both get out and call it a day. They can go catch frogs with jeb.

Fools and their money will soon be parted. Cruz is greasy sleazy car salesman trying to sell a lemon to anyone who will give him a chance.

Smart move by Cruz and good manifestation of his executive skills.

An outstanding issue to identify faux motives of supposed Trump supporters who simply seek to disrupt conservatism.

The original “I quit” guy now sees an opportunity to ride some coattails out of debt and into Washington - too bad them coattails are dragging in the slime and will not provide the full trip.

Ted Cruz is now 100% owned & controlled by the Republican Establishment, Mitt Romney, Jeb Bush, Lindsey Graham, Carly Fiorina, Scott Walker, Glenn Beck, Karl Rove, Paul Ryan, etc.. He will only do their bidding....no matter what...and, then they will discard him like a bad habit, whom they with passion, hate to his very core, in a New York minute and will replace him with the likes of “WEAK” Mitt Romney or (Obama Buddy) Paul Ryan!!!

You good & honest folks in Wisconsin better think long & hard before you cast you valuable vote for Ted Cruz. Politically....Cruz is a dead man walking or, at least a owned pawn controlled by the GOP Establishment. Real & True Conservatives will cast their votes for Donald J. Trump, the man that will usher in real, positive change for our great country and, once again, make America Great Again!!!

Support & vote for Donald J. Trump come next Tuesday in Wisconsin!!!

I saw that the day of Trumps “almost “ rally in Chicago. Within an hour Neil Bush was on CNN trashing Trump and about a half an hour later there’s Ted blaming Trump. That will be my forever point where I knew Cruz sold out his soul to the GOP e. Up til then it was a toss up as to whom I backed, in fact I contributed to FR a day or so earlier in both their names.

As long as it was someone else’s money, and it seems to have covered Ted’s butt; hey, it’s business as usual.
