Former Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst is backing Sen. Ted Cruz for president, KXAS-TV (NBC5) reports.
The two ran against each other in 2012 in a bitter race for the Senate seat held by retiring Republican Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison. But Dewhurst says that was then, this is now.
On Friday in Austin he called Cruz the best person in the field to unite Republicans and win the White House....

Another GOPe for Cruz! Shock! /NOT
As a TEXAN, I can tell you guys, WITH CERTAINTY, that there is no better evidence that Cruz is now FULL GOPe, than having Dewhurst, a HORRIFIC Republican, in the Rick Perry mold, that was dispatched from office by two conservatives (at the time).
Bottom line - an endorsement by Dewhurst is actually MUCH WORSE than being endorsed by Jeb, who at least did some conservative things while in state government.
Cruz is now TOTALLY CONTROLLED by the GOPe.
By the way, after they use Cruz to knock Trump out, they will hold a contested convention and give us Jeb or Romney. Count on it.

Thanks...I figured some context would help people understand just what Cruz has morphed in to.
For the establishment, Dewhurst would actually be a good nominee at a brokered convention.
Pretend-conservative, open borders, opposes building a wall, a veteran like McCain, supports the jackboots stomping on Cliven Bundy.
Probably gets along well with people like Cornyn, Jerry Moran, Pat Roberts, Inhofe, Gardner, Hatch, Boozman, Blunt,etc.
What’s interesting, BobL, is that we have been crosswise before (although as Freepers we never made it personal). So if we can both see this, why can’t others?!

Considering that most true Cruz supporters also respect and will support Trump makes me suspect many remaining so-called ‘Cruz supporters’ here these days have ties to OTHER candidates (other than Trump and Cruz), so when they go after Trump, it starts making sense.
Remember that nearly HALF A BILLION DOLLARS have been spent against Trump - I’d be very surprised if some of that cash didn’t make it to people posting here.

Agree - he went to Austin as PURE as we could EVER HOPE for a Tea Party person...and they even compromised him.
