South Carolina Voters Angered by Trump's Claim that Bush Lied to Start Iraq War
The Weekly Standard ^ | February 17, 2016 | John McCormack

Beaufort, S.C. - Did Donald Trump damage his candidacy at Saturday night's debate when he alleged that George W. Bush knowingly lied about weapons of mass destruction in Iraq in order to launch the war? A few signs suggest the answer is yes.

On Monday, Rush Limbaugh lumped Trump in the same league as Michael Moore and Daily Kos bloggers for standing by his Iraq war conspiracy theory. Then on Tuesday, CNN released a poll that found Trump dropped 9 points after the debate--from 40 percent to 31 percent. On Tuesday night, every voter I spoke to at Trump's campaign event in Beaufort, South Carolina disapproved of Trump's comments. Their views ranged from genuine disgust to mere displeasure.

Dave Paxton from Hilton Head said he still doesn't know who he's voting for on Tuesday, but he is certain he won't be voting for Trump. Paxton said Trump's comment about George W. Bush "was horrible. I couldn't hardly watch after that. I mean, really, I was hoping they would not even ask him another question."

"I just think he made an ass of himself," Paxton added. "And then he kept interrupting."(continued)

“Dave Paxton from Hilton Head said he still doesn’t know who he’s voting for on Tuesday”

Vote for Jeb. Show that Bush family you are with them.

Focusing on the disastrous Bush Presidency is not a winning strategy. Trump went too far, but it is a briar patch if the party gets stuck trying to defend the lunacy that was. If not for Iraq, would we have Obama?

Then why were they at a Trump campaign event? Me thinks that only GOPe, rush beck and Daily Kos bloggers were offended.

Trump understands branding and marketing. He doesn’t understand voters.

That’s OK, because Cruz is “pure”.

If you ignore all of his lying and crappy campaign techniques.

But when he stands up in Congress and bloviates about how pure he is, without actually accomplishing anything, that’s why we need him as President.

Or something.

Consistent.

I agree that was very damaging. I hope he will have the sense to walk it back. He could say a Russian teenager just shared a top secret email from Hillary’s server that confirmed the WMDs were moved to Syria. And he sincerely apologizes to GW and his mom.

Oh you poor dear. How is it possible that everybody doesn’t love the Donald. After all he’s just so loveable.

Don’t worry, you can always listen to Michael Savage.

It will play better in the general election.

There is a large anti-war vote that is dissatisfied with Obama and that hated Bush.
