Byron York: GOP fear and loathing in New Hampshire (of Trump)
Washington Examiner ^ | January 24,16 | Byron York

NASHUA, N.H. On Friday and Saturday, the New Hampshire Republican Party held its final big event before the February 9 GOP primary. The First-in-the-Nation Presidential Town Hall, at the Nashua Radisson, attracted the local officials, activists, and politicos who make up the state GOP establishment. They heard from Marco Rubio, Jeb Bush, John Kasich, Rand Paul, and other candidates who hope to make a mark in New Hampshire. But lying just beneath the attendees' enthusiasm for the candidates was a remarkable level of confusion, frustration, and just plain bewilderment at what is going on in their state's presidential race. How is it that Donald Trump is leading his closest competitor by nearly 20 points? They wish they knew. Below are scenes from a very puzzled party:

One of the few articles, although long, I read through the whole thing! This is a few days old article, but worth reading, to understand the Trump phenomena.

Excellent article. York is a solid writer. I especially liked this passage:

The operative recalled how previous candidates had wined and dined McQuaid [publisher Union Leader], kissed his ring, done the whole fawning routine in hopes of winning the paper's endorsement. And when McQuaid didn't give it to them they ... kept mouths shut. Deep inside, they wanted to say to McQuaid the kinds of things Trump actually said, but they didn't have the wherewithal to do it. Truth be told, the operative found Trump's reaction pretty hilarious.

"It's a process that we have a responsibility to pick the next president." Voting in the primary is more than just voting, Sununu said: "It's making sure that as a body, those of us who support the Republican Party, those of us who care about this country, make sure that our friends and neighbors do it responsibly."

The utter arrogance of these people; the unmitigated willful blindness when viewing the "little people" and their view of them as simply votes to be manipulated at will.

And those little people finally reached their limit. They refuse to cooperate.

The peons have the nerve to insist that THEY have the final word.

That loyalty to their country and its Constitution is first and foremost to them, NOT LOYALTY TO PARTY, NOT ACCEPTING THE RULE BY BRIBES, BY LOBBYISTS. BY CORRUPT ELECTED CRIMINALS.

Accept the new reality or perish.

The gravy train is over.

The GOPe and influence peddlers are Dr. Frankenstein. Donald Trump is their creation, and the "monster" is about to show them reality.

In this case, with the full support of the villagers.
Pitchforks and faggots are ready and just waiting to be released.

Deal with it!

THEY STILL DON'T GET IT!!

“The truth shall set you free.” At least they were honest enough to admit that they don’t understand what’s going on. They can get in line.

Trump really hit McQuaid and the paper hard yesterday at his rally in Nashua, NH! It was a good speech IMHO. The link to it is in the Trump Live Rally thread from 1-29.

Sununu is obviously off the rails here. He must think he has more than one vote or that his counts as ten.

Yes. It was a very good speech. McQuaid has to be wondering what hit him ... and reconsidering his endorsement.
