Texas Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick announced Tuesday he would hit the Iowa campaign trail to support the presidential bid of Texas Sen. Ted Cruz, joining a cadre of other conservative stalwarts that has recently taken shape behind Cruz.

Less than a week before the nation's first primary caucus, Cruz and his leading rival, Donald Trump, are tied for the top spot in a recent poll.

Almost two years before this election cycle began, Patrick endorsed Cruz for president, saying the senator had "taken our conservative message to a different level."(continued)

Pretty PATHETIC of him. When Cruz REALLY needed his support, in the Senate Primary, Patrick was taking the side of the ULTRA-RINO, Dewhurst. He’s tried to explain it away, but Patrick simply thought he was siding with a winner as Dewhurst had a huge lead back then.

On top of that, Patrick hasn’t done jack as Lt. Governor. The minute that ANY Republican feels some pain in having to take a stand on a ‘tough’ issue, Patrick backs down and it dies.

I don’t blame Cruz for taking the endorsement...I just cannot believe how easy it was for him (Patrick) to get corrupted, and that wasn’t even in DC, it was in Austin.

Neither Dan Patrick nor Rick Perry supported Ted in his senate run. How very transparent the plan is. Dan Patrick, like Rick Perry, probably got the call from the RINO elites to build Ted up so as to take Trump down, so that the GOPe could come in later and stomp on Cruz, creating a clear path for Rubio/Jeb. Like that’s gonna work, jerks.

...Cruz is the most popular politician in the state...it doesn’t surprise anyone that both perry and Patrick are helping. Cronyn thinks he can stay away and come away unscathed... We’ll see

It would have been shocking for Perry or Patrick to endorse someone against the Lt. Governor.

Joe Straus(TX Speaker) is the real clog to conservative legislation in Texas.

These are good endorsements and now is not the time to air your grievances against them.

Sorry, just mad at Patrick. He was a true non-politician in a very conservative state - he should have done MUCH MORE.

Definitely true regarding Straus - if conservatives don’t go after him, after all he’s done, it just shows we’re not up to it.
