I thought the headline said “Chubby Republican Senators...”
After looking several times, I finally realized it says “clubby,” not “chubby.”
“Powerless” is a feeling the Republican majority in the Senate has grown far too comfortable with. Had they thrown their support behind Ted Cruz at a few critical junctures in the past couple of years, they would have shrugged off the stench of “loser” and already would be exerting the strength that comes with having and USING the power of the majority.
The entrenched “Establishment” Republicans have repeatedly handicapped themselves, artificially and to nobody’s benefit, over and over again, for a couple of decades now, ever since Slick’s impeachment.
