Republican: Syrian refugees coming to U.S. for a ‘paid vacation’

Rep. Mo Brooks (R-Ala.) says refugees fleeing war-torn Syria are trying to come to the U.S. for a “paid vacation” in the form of generous welfare programs.

“I’m one of these folks that think we need to stop paying these folks to come here, and we’re paying them about $15,000 a year in free health care, free food, free shelter, free clothing, free transportation,” Brooks said on the Dale Jackson Show on Friday, as first reported by the liberal media outlet ThinkProgress.

ADVERTISEMENT “You know, just go down the litany of wealth-transfer programs that these people are entitled to, and that answers very quickly why so many of them want to come to the United States of America, we’re paying them to come here,” Brooks continued. “Paid vacation!”

He clarified that he was talking about “not just refugees, but all the illegal aliens, all the things that [President] Barack Obama is doing that is wrong and perhaps in violation of law with respect to illegal aliens, or irresponsible with respect to taking in refugees from countries that are infested with Muslim terrorist organizations.”

In the aftermath of terrorist attacks in Paris last week, the congressman said Islam is an inherently violent faith.

What is congress doing? They're trying to look good, that's what. Political posturing, period.

There are millions of American citizens who could use a hand, but that won't look as good as 'rescuing' a bunch of so-called 'refugees' who turn out to be all males who could have served in their country's military and saved it. Instead, they ran away, leaving their families behind to jump on the Gravy Train to America, land of the freebies and home of the clockwork welfare checks.
Then again, who would they want to work in their own country. Come to America, play dumb, be supported until you die of old age.

I remember meeting, talking with, and working with folks who were thrilled to have immigrated here. Many of them proudly showed me their green cards. So not like the scum we have infiltration our nation now, with the express consent and urging of the douchebag in the off-white house.

Thank you for referencing that article entropy12. Please bear in mind that the following critique is directed at the article and not at you.

"Why are the republicans in congress funding this?"

When you say republicans, are you referring to the ”conservative” front-end of the corrupt Washington cartel?

The bottom line is that the Founding States did not intend for anything in Congresss constitutional Article I, Section 8-limited powers to be interpreted as giving Congress the specific power to tax and spend for vote-winning welfare purposes for citizens or aliens.

The reason that Congress is wrongly providing welfare funding is this. The corrupt, post-17th Amendment Senate is hurting the states by not doing its Job to protect the states as the Founding States had intended for it to do. In this case senators are hurting the states by helping to pass unconstitutional legislation that steals 10th Amendment-protected state funding for unconstitutional federal welfare spending.

”Congress is not empowered to tax for those purposes which are within the exclusive province of the States.” - Justice John Marshall, Gibbons v. Ogden, 1824.

The ill-conceived 17th Amendment needs to disappear, and corrupt senators who help the likewise corrupt House to pass unconstitutional appropriations bills which steal state revenues along with it.

[[What the heck is Congress doing, with their power of purse? Why are the republicans in congress funding this?]]

Some figure the true cost of illegal immigrants (not the refuges) cost this country between $400 BILLION and $600 BILLION dollars every single year- and now we are going to add refugees as well apparently

[[There are millions of American citizens who could use a hand,]]

Seniors, disabled and veterans will be facing harsh cuts to their already meager SS and SSD checks in the coming years- some having to live on as little as $15 a day- but by golly our country can find reams of money- $400 BILLION to $600 BILLION per year for illegals in this country- some getting as much as $45,000 a year by milking the government for all it’s worth
